Om Canadian culture

The artistic, gastronomic, literary, comedic, musical, political, and social aspects that are characteristic to Canadians are all embodied in the country's culture. Over the course of its history, European culture and customs-primarily those of the British and French-have influenced Canadian culture second, after that of its indigenous populations. The cultures of Canada's immigrant populations have been assimilated over time to create a mosaic of Canadian civilizations. Because of their shared language (in English-speaking Canada), extensive media exposure, and close proximity, some demographic groups in Canada have also been influenced by American culture, albeit to differing degrees. Civic nationalists are those who, like other Canadian nationalists, are concerned with upholding Canadian sovereignty and devotion to the Canadian State. Similarly, it has also been stated a lot that Canadian nationalist ideas heavily draw on anti-Americanism. A sovereign, tolerant, bi-cultural, and united Canada continues to be the ideological goal of many Canadian nationalists. Since the middle of the 20th century, Canada has experienced cultural protectionism in the form of deliberate, interventionist measures to advance Canadian cultural creation by a number of Canadian governments. It is challenging for Canada to maintain its unique culture as opposed to becoming absorbed by American society because of their shared vast border, same language (for the most part), and exposure to American media. Canadian values are the ethical and human ideals that Canadians believe to be shared by all. The main political parties specify their adherence to Canadian principles using generalizations, despite their explicit claims to the contrary. Historian Ian MacKay contends that "egalitarianism, social equality, and peace... are now often simply referred to... as 'Canadian values, '" because of the long-term political influence of "Rebels, Reds, and Radicals" and associated leftist political components. In terms of economic freedom, education, gender equality, quality of life, civil liberties, government transparency, and economic freedom, Canada is ranked well internationally.
