The universe is Nicky's home and his friends are the planets and the stars, though his very best friends are the children of planet earth. He whispers softly to them, "e;DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK."e;The US Review of Books"e;If only you believe, you can achieve anything."e;Nicky Moonbeam, The Man in the Moon, has two very important tasks he must perform each night. First, he gives all the children of the world a giant hug with his long moonbeam arms. Then, he works as the "e;Big Night-Light"e; in the sky so children won't be afraid of the dark. When Christmas Eve arrives, Nicky receives an emergency signal from the North Pole. Rudolph has come down with a cold and can't guide Santa's sleigh. The snow is falling faster and thicker by the minute while the mischievous Dream Stealers are playing practical jokes and pranks on Santa's elves and reindeer. Nicky must help save Christmas. Yet, he worries that his moonbeams won't be bright enough to guide Santa's sleigh. He is entering his "e;new moon"e; beam phase. Nicky quickly realizes he must overcome his fear and find a way to have the Dream Stealers and elves work together. Children cannot be disappointed on Christmas morning. Cavaliere created the Nicky Moonbeam character when she was a little girl to help deal with her fear of the dark. Fast forward years later and the result is a heartwarming story with an important lesson children can take to heart. Beautiful illustrations accompany the story, helping Nicky and his friends come to life. It's the first in a series of twelve planned books, which is sure to delight children who are looking forward to discovering Nicky's next adventure. RECOMMENDED

For the first time, The Child Code brings genetics out of the lab and onto the parent's lap, offering a smarter and much more effective way of parenting.Danielle Dick - a chaired professor of psychology and human and molecular genetics - makes the case with evidence that's clear and compelling: under normal conditions, the biggest factor influencing your child's outcome is, quite simply, the child - his or her unique genetic signature present at birth. Genetic predispositions shape temperament, the propensity toward impulsivity, self-regulation, sociability, fear, anxiety, addiction, and happiness. This book will give you the tools to understand your child from day 1- to crack the 'code' on what makes your child tick-and to tailor your parenting approach accordingly. By understanding the degree to which your child's behaviour is written into their genetic code, and the environment in which it's expressed, you will learn what will and what won't work in helping your child become their best selves, with a lot less stress all around: you can't change your child but you can be a better parent.

Perversion of Love aims to explore the reasons why we as Christians may struggle to love ourselves and others through the lens of what Dr. Gary Chapman defined, and what has been accepted by popular culture, as the five love languages. Christians have been given a Great Commission which is to spread the Gospel and make disciples. The method by which we fulfill this commission is the greatest commandments-to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. God created us to love, but we have an enemy whose goal is to destroy everything that God created, and his favorite method of destruction is perversion-the distortion, corruption, or alteration of a thing from its original course or design. So it makes sense that our enemy would seek to pervert the way we love ourselves and others in his attempt to stop the spread of the Gospel. So how does this perversion take place? I believe the enemy attacks us through our primary love language(s) and uses our very own parents as unwitting (and sometimes witting) participants to carry out his plan. Since we all receive love differently, the enemy will attack us in different ways, but there are some common tactics he uses depending on our love language. If we can learn to recognize the enemy's tactics for what they were/are, we can start the process of breaking the cycle of perversion in our lives and the generations to come. In doing so, we can learn to fully love God, ourselves, and others, and we will fulfill the purpose for which we were designed.

'In this insightful and practical exploration of female young adulthood, Madonna offers a remarkable way of understanding and sharing the realities of growing up for so many of our daughters.' - Dr Justin CoulsonA must-read guide for parents of teenage girls that explores what our girls need us to know in order to support them through the unprecedented pressures of growing up in today's world. The world is a very different place from two years ago. And the impact on our 16-, 17- and 18-year-old girls is huge. At one of the most critical times in their development - an age when they're ready to spread their wings and look to the future - they have had to deal with enormous disruption and dislocation, and come to terms with living life from their bedrooms. The long stints of remote learning and the anxiety of at-home exams has compounded with the ever-present pressure of the ATAR and worries around friendships and relationships, who they want to be, gender identity, alcohol, vaping, and sex, body image and mental health. Self-harm and eating disorders have risen dramatically. For school-leavers, the uncertainty around university study and the jobs market only adds to the heavy toll.To support our girls, we need to understand the pressures this generation is under by listening to what worries them and what they need - and journalist and social commentator Madonna King has done just that. Having consulted 1000 young women, along with parents, senior educators, and health care professionals in her research for this book, L Platers delivers the answers we need as parents to help our girls on the road to adulthood.'Madonna tells us the truth about what Australian tween and teen girls are feeling and thinking. Best of all, she equips parents with useful tips on what our girls need from us and wish we knew.' - Rebecca Sparrow, author of Ask Me Anything

We know that video games keep people engaged for hours on end, and research indicates that this is due, in good part, to player agency. That is, the ability for the person playing the game to make significant choices that have consequences to the outcome of the game. How can this idea be replicated in the classroom? While Agency feels like a new buzzword in education, it has been around since the 5th Century, BCE. What does it really mean? Why does it matter? How has it changed (and stayed the same) throughout all these centuries? Why is it important to nurture it, and how can we do that while still developing the skills necessary to achieve on high stakes tests? And to what extent is this idea more important for gifted students? This book is for any educator or parent who is hoping to understand the concept of agency as well as explore strategies to inspire and invigorate their most complex learners to become the best version of themselves.
