In book number three, Book of Best Words, Jazz's big brother offers homework help with inventive interpretations of a seemingly soulless A, B, C assignment. Jazz is inspired by her brother to tackle her homework in a most singular manner.Full of exuberance, Book of Best Words is sure to stretch the reader's linguistic aptitude. Spattered with irreverence and touched with ingenuity, this illustrated series featuring Jazz and her older brother has the feel of an instant classic. Gratefully, Laura Teste, in her author-illustrator debut, has included tongue-in-cheek nods to the lucky adults in the room. For the inquisitive-can't-sit-still children, her series is sure to capture their attention and whet their appetite for more. Laura Teste perfectly blends the alphabet, words, family bonding, and rhyming. Jazz and her brother bounce ideas off each other and use their wit to come up with the craziest words. I loved their banter and adorable personalities. The illustrations are comical, depicting the two with joyful faces and imaginative ideas. By the end of the book, the two manage to come up with words for the list, but the homework is not yet done. I cannot wait to read more. Brilliant work. -- Reviewed by Luwi Nyakansaila for Readers' Favorite

In the first of this series, Jazz's older brother plays the straight man during the evening's antics in Book of Bad Manners. Jazz and her Uncle Mark one up each other's bad manners during Uncle Mark's dinner while her older brother stews over the full report expected by their mom. Culminating in the best worst bad manner, this book is sure to be either the most refreshing or most raucous story on the bookshelf. Fed on a steady diet of The Far Side and odd engineering projects, Laura Teste bundles her broad interests into a series of children's picture books. She is currently living the life of an artist in Michigan. Her foray into writing was initially to fulfill the family obligation of a homemade Christmas gift. I can confidently promise that you cannot imagine all the bad manners displayed by the characters in this short book Jazz's brother is the narrator of this story, written in a poetic form with vividly descriptive words and impressive end rhymes. I must mention the beautiful and colorful illustrations that gave life to the story and characters. In addition to its other commendable features, the plot was simply ingenious. I enjoyed this story greatly and recommend Book of Bad Manners by Laura Teste to all young readers. -- Reviewed by Ann Linus for Readers' Favorite (Five Stars)

Overall, this is a tightly written and exceptionally well-crafted story. Very highly recommended. - Five Star Review by Readers' Favorite
