Der vorliegende Band enthält eine Gesamtdarstellung des europäischen Vertragsrechts. Er nimmt vor allem die Perspektive des Unionsrechts ein und analysiert die vertragsrechtsrelevanten Aspekte des Primär- und Sekundärrechts. Gleichzeitig geht die Darstellung auf die Umsetzung in den mitgliedstaatlichen Rechtsordnungen ein. Das IPR wird ebenso umfassend behandelt wie die speziellen Methodenfragen des europäischen Privatrechts.

The book provides a systematic introduction to the methods of EU law and the influence of EU law on national methods of law. It discusses the historical, economic and comparative background from a European perspective but also gives attention to the methodological particularities of selected areas of the law and different Member States.

In recent years, EU consumer law has been subject to spectacular decisions by the European Court of Justice, with important consequences for the private law of Member States. The three authors have taken a broad horizontal approach at the European acquis, thereby reflecting on the history, the achievements and also the shortcomings of EC law.
