Chapters in this monograph take up a variety of issues, such as using online social networking in the preparation of teachers, examining the impact of textbook-specific professional development, and offering a mathematics-specific reading in the content area course.
A major focus of teacher education is the development of preservice teachers. However, educating inservice teachers is equally important, and the conversation among those involved in mathematics teacher education needs to include discussion of this group as well. This monograph discusses issues in educating all of these groups of individuals.
This work is the result of an exciting NSF supported endeavour that gathered leaders in the field and explored curriculum, case studies of programme models at several institutions, as well as issue papers on such key topics as assessment, technology, and preparing culturally responsive teachers.
