When a child is not growing we look for causes. The child may not be growing because he is not eating the right foods. The child may not be exercising correctly. Perhaps, the young one is not getting the proper nutrients to his body. If the situation becomes so critical as to threaten the child's existence, we consult a doctor. Yet, when our churches do not grow, many of us just assume that must be the way things are and who can change it? When Jesus walked the earth, he turned to the fig tree and cursed it because it gave no fruit. Growth is one of the characteristic of a living things which means that if our church is a living church, then the church must grow. Should we seek spiritual growth which is horizontally growth, community growth which is vertically growth or numerical growth. On which of these must we concentrate to enable the church of Jesus Christ to grow?

Christians have a special interest in prayer. We believe it is a way to contact the true God who has revealed Himself in love and who has spoken to us already in His Word, the Bible. The two biblical characters who had most to say on the subject of prayer were Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul, the two foremost Christian leaders. The Christian's relationship to his or her heavenly Father is by definition the most important one that we enjoy. Therefore, it is essential that we know how to communicate with God acceptably and effectively. There is no verse in the Bible that gives us a definition of prayer per se. Consequently, we must discover what it is by examining the prayers and references to prayer in the Bible if we want a biblical definition. Essentially prayer is talking to God. It is expressing our thoughts and feelings to God.

Genesis 2:24 is probably the most important Bible verse on the subject of marriage - it sets forth for us the Blueprint for Marriage. It is repeated in Matthew 19:5, Mark 10:7 and Ephesians 5:31. Its force is comparable to becoming a Christian. When two people are married there is a life they leave, and must leave, and there is a new relationship they enter which, compared to all other human relationships there is no equal. If this does not happen the marriage must of necessity be a sick or dysfunctional marriage.
