It is a truth universally acknowledged that a human in possession of a dachshund will not be in charge of their life. Once a lover of Austen, the arts and travel, I'm now a dachshund housemate. I know friends whisper - "She's dumping us for the dachshunds! She should get a life!" But I have a life. A marvellous life run by dachshunds. Whether pulling me in the park or pushing me off the bed, these clever little clowns own me. They're my muses and manipulators. I work for them, write about them, live a vegetarian lifestyle because of them.
