Emigration bedeutet eine tiefgreifende lebensgeschichtliche Zasur. Der erzwungene Verlust von Heimat und vertrauter Kultur, von Sprache und sozialen Vernetzungen als Folge der nationalsozialistischen "e;Judenpolitik"e; wirkte sich in einem weit starkeren Ausma auf die Lebenslaufe der Betroffenen aus, als es bislang wahrgenommen wurde. Seit vielen Jahren sammelt das Stadtarchiv Munchen Erinnerungen von ehemaligen Munchnerinnen und Munchnern. Diese ganz personlichen Zeugnisse ermoglichen einen aufschlussreichen Blick auf die Befindlichkeiten einer weitgehend vergessenen Opfergruppe der NS-Zeit. Sie verweisen freilich nicht nur auf die mit der Entwurzelung verbundenen Traumatisierungen und psychischen Belastungen, sondern auch auf eindrucksvollen Mut, auf Willenskraft und Integrationsbereitschaft, um in einer fremden Umwelt zu bestehen und diese zur neuen Heimat zu machen.
