Ferdinand August Bebel (1840/1913) war ein deutscher Politiker und einer der Begründer der organisierten sozialdemokratischen Arbeiterbewegung in Deutschland. Seine politischen Anfänge wurzelten im liberal-demokratischen Vereinswesen von Arbeitern und Handwerkern, ehe er sich dem Marxismus zuwandte. Der Mensch kommt mit einer Anzahl Anlagen und Charaktereigenschaften zur Welt, deren Entwicklung von den ihn umgebenden Zuständen sehr wesentlich abhängt. Anlagen und Charaktereigenschaften können durch Erziehung und Beispiel der Umgebung gefördert oder gehemmt, ja bis zu einem gewissen Grade unterdrückt werden. Es hängt alsdann von den Verhältnissen im späteren Leben, öfter auch von der Energie der betreffenden Persönlichkeit ab, ob und wie fehlerhafte Erziehung oder unterdrückt gewesene Eigenschaften sich Geltung verschaffen..."
