This is a dark and dystopian story of a man lost in the woods...a battle with a beast...a war with his mind. Struggling with reality, James escapes in his alcohol-fuelled world of delusion. He finds himself far away from the walls of the city, far away from his family, far away from bodies alive and dead, the man finds himself alone, terribly alone in what appears to be a swampy woodland. The essays collected here originated as papers given at the Annual Moore College School of Theology for 2014. Like Matthew''s Gospel itself, they show a concern to place the good news about Jesus Christ in the context of God''s unfolding plan of salvation throughout the centuries. The history of Israel contains both promise and pattern that point ahead to the coming of Jesus Christ as the Messiah who will ''save his people from their sins''.The essays also reflect a concern to speak into the context of the contemporary proclamation of that good news.
