    Carl Ewald (born October 15, 1856 at Bredelykke in Gram in Schleswig, died February 23, 1908) was a Danish author, best known for his Darwinist- inspired art adventures on nature. After working as a journalist at a local newspaper in Svendborg , he settled down as a freelance journalist in Copenhagen . He joined the ideas in the Modern Breakthrough and became co-editor of Ove Rod's journal Copenhagen. Under the brand "Mr. Hansen" he provided journalism to Politiken. He began writing books and in the 1880s published a number of problem books in the style of the time about, among other things. gender roles and child rearing and unfolded in the years thereafter with great energy in almost all genres.

    Karl Ewald (dänisch Carl Ewald; 1856 - 1908) war ein dänischer Schriftsteller. Die naturkundlichen Märchen, die bald auf fünf Bände anwuchsen, begründeten seine literarische Bekanntheit. Weitere Geschichten von Pflanzen, Tieren und astronomischen Gegebenheiten folgten. Er entwickelte sich zu einem vielseitigen Schriftsteller und schrieb auch Novellen, historische und zeitgenössische Romane, Lustspiele und satirische Skizzen. 1905 übertrug er die Märchen der Brüder Grimm ins Dänische. Seine Schriften wurden in viele Sprachen übersetzt und erlebten eine große Anzahl von Auflagen. In Deutschland wurden vor allem die Märchen und die Erzählung Das Zweibein so bekannt, dass man Karl Ewald vielfach für einen deutschen Dichter gehalten hat.
