Every afternoon, Nana comes to get me from school. We walk, and talk, and look at the squirrels, the robins, and especially the caterpillars. They feel funny when they crawl on your hands. Then one day, the caterpillars were gone. Where did they go? Where did all these cotton candy cocoons come from? Then one day Nana didn't come to pick me up after school. Mommy was there instead? I wonder why?

Hannah loved hash browns! She ate them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Oh, once in a while she would eat some other spud, like French fries, or tater tots, or potato chips. But her favorite food was hash browns. Mom joked, "You are what you eat, Hannah. Someday, you will turn into a hash brown."Hannah laughed and ate her hash browns. Could it be?.... Nah! Or could it?

Alice in Nether Land traces the desperate journey of survival for Alice, a Jewish child in World War II France. Alice was my friend, but I never knew about her childhood until she told me about living on garbage soup. Once I learned her story, I felt compelled to write it. I hope you will feel equally compelled to read it.

The Little Blue Train has the sneezes! It's time to leave the station. All of the other trains are clean, shiny and ready go to! Will the stationmaster figure out what is making the Little Blue Train sneeze before it is time to go? Whatever will we do with an Achoo Choo Choo!

Carol Kasser earned an Ed.D. in English Education from Temple University and taught English and ESL at the Community College of Philadelphia for twenty years. She is an ordained interfaith chaplain specializing in geriatrics. With Ann Silverman, she co-authored two textbooks, American Cultural Encounters, and Stories We Brought With Us. She is also the author of Manna For the Soul, a book on Jewish spirituality. Carol enjoys swimming, writing, and traveling. She spends as much time as possible with her family, her husband Harris, her children Robert, Jodie, and Stacy and her five grandchildren, Hunter, Nicholas, Dylan, Logan, and Kayla. They provided the inspiration for most of these stories.
