Anka Trafas is evicted and relocated to the Krakow ghetto, along with her Jewish husband, Aaron Levin, and their three children. Esther Brenner, a young Dutch girl living in Russia on the Crimean Steppe, is required to face the horror of war when her father and brother are taken. What will happen to the rest of the village is unknown.
