When wearing my Proud American Veteran hat, I often encounter people of all ages who thank me for my service. I'm a little embarrassed because I gave so little compared to others who gave life or limb. One day I struck up a conversation with a vet who had been in the thick of the fight in Vietnam and had given much. When I apologetically told him about my job, he looked me in the eye and said, "Brother, you served where you were sent." He not only made me feel good about myself but also gave me the theme for this book. The following is an excerpt: Are you serving where you are sent? Whenever and wherever we encounter a person who needs an encouraging word, a cup of cold water, or maybe just a friendly smile, we have an opportunity to serve where we are sent. Don't overlook a chance to serve where you have been sent because you are looking for the big opportunity to prove your value to the cause of Christ in some spectacular way. A sister used to say, "If I can't be the tablecloth, I'll don't want to be the dish rag." Bless her heart; she had it all backward. Tablecloths are primarily ornamental. On the other hand, dish rags are functional. I fear the body of Christ has too many tablecloths and not enough dish rags. (Chapter One: All Gave Some - Some Gave All).

The ABCs of Walking in the Way is based on Psalm 119, which is the longest of all the psalms, having 176 verses divided into twenty-two strophes or paragraphs. The title of the book is derived from the fact that each line of each strophe of the psalm begins with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, beginning with the first letter called the "Alef" and ending with the last letter "Tav"-thus, the ABCs. Verse, one pronounces a blessing on the blameless-"who walk in the way of the law of the Lord." This book is not a verse-by-verse study of the Psalm but the outgrowth of sermons preached on Psalm 119. The chapters are not transcripts of the sermons, and no attempt has been made to reproduce the exact language of the oral presentations. The work is not only suitable for private devotions and group study, but it also provides the busy preacher with nearly six months of sermons.

He became fully human in order that he might "bring many sons" into glory. This book explores seven words related Christ's mission of bringing many sons into glory.

But it took celebrated teacher and music visionary Don Campbell to show us just how deep, with his landmark book The Mozart Effect.Stimulating, authoritative, and often lyrical, The Mozart Effect has a simple but life-changing message: music is medicine for the body, the mind, and the soul. Campbell shows how modern science has begun to confirm this ancient wisdom, finding evidence that listening to certain types of music can improve the quality of life in almost every respect. Here are dramatic accounts of how music is used to deal with everything from anxiety to cancer, high blood pressure, chronic pain, dyslexia, and even mental illness.Always clear and compelling, Campbell recommends more than two dozen specific, easy-to-follow exercises to raise your spatial IQ, "sound away" pain, boost creativity, and make the spirit sing!
