The study examined the linkages between curriculum, teaching, assessment, and the world of work; guided by three specific objectives which were; the influence of curriculum on the world of work, and the impact of teaching and assessment methods on the world of work in Uganda. A curriculum which is based on efficiency and competency can provide learners (labor force) with necessary skills, knowledge, values and attitudes for gainful employment in the global arena. Does achievement mean that one is competent? If curriculum hasn't guided the leaner to fit into the world of work, then it has to be revisited/reviewed/reformed so as to address gaps. Unemployment is attributed to a mismatch between the educational content and occupational skills needed. In 2017, Unemployment in Uganda was at 2.10% up from 0.94% in 1991 (Economics, 2018). Uganda has a great number of qualified graduates mostly looking out for white-collar jobs, which are few. The results of the regression analysis indicate the coefficient of determination R2=0.225 which shows that 22.5% variation in curriculum is explained by changes in the World of work.

This research was conducted in the field of pedagogy. The study specifically looked at "Pedagogical practices and Learners' performance in Upper Primary education in Uganda: A case of Wakiso District." It was a cross-sectional study that largely covered District officials, Head teachers, teachers and learners. One of the findings that the study revealed is that; Teaching follows giving detailed notes to learners in all subjects prepared with lesson plans. But unfortunately, the teaching methods used are largely exam-driven in regard to teaching learners how to approach and pass questions as opposed to understanding content. One respondent reiterated that, ¿¿. for us here our teaching approach doesn¿t have presentations, we only have presentations in dance and drama sessions...we teach so that our learners pass their final examinations at primary seven." The study concluded that, current teaching methods used are only meant for learners to pass examinations rather than for learning. The recommendation is that, there is need for more learner involvement during the learning process.
