She would begin dating Barrie Watts, an inveterate liar and self-described "scumbag" who often told her of his fantasy to "be the first and last lover of a woman." Wanting to please her man, Valmae manipulated a young girl into their lair where she would be brutalized and murdered. The killing was so callous and shocking that it remains one of Australia's most horrific crimes and made Valmae Fay Beck the most hated woman in the country.
