A new pseudo-Christian belief, Evangelical Conditionalism has embraced Physicalism and Annihilationism to create a doctrine antithetical to historic, orthodox, scriptural Christianity. This book draws the doctrine of Evangelical Conditionalism from an official source and examines it against the Scripture. Of special consideration is the impact Physicalism has on Christology, and Annihilationism has on eschatology.

  • - Revelation 17-22
    av James D Quiggle
    247

The commentary is based on the fact the Revelation of Jesus Christ is not apocalyptic, it is not the work of John the apostle, it is a prophecy of yet-future events revealed to John by Jesus Christ. John wrote exactly what he saw and heard. Jesus is the author, John was the scribe and publisher. This volume is the third and final volume in the series. The earlier volumes are Revelation 1-7, Revelation 8-16. This commentary on Revelation 17-22 interprets the judgment of Babylon as a literal judgment, the second advent as the literal feet-on-ground return of Jesus Christ, the thousand year rule of the Davidic-Messianic Kingdom on earth as literal, and the Great White Throne, the Lake of Fire, the new heaven and earth, and the new Jerusalem on the new earth as literal events. The theological point of view is Reformed and Dispensational. The futurist model is applied. The interpretation rigorously and consistently applies the Historical-Grammatical hermeneutic to every verse, every doctrine, every symbol, every figure of speech. Symbols and figures of speech are interpreted by other biblical usage to reveal literal truths. To interpret this 66th book of the Bible I have applied what the Holy Spirit has revealed in the preceding 65 books.

  • - The Doctrines of Foreordination, Election, and Predestination
    av James D Quiggle
    161

Few doctrines are more difficult or more controversial than foreordination, election, and predestination-nor more misunderstood. Human beings fight against the idea that God makes choices that affect their lives, preferring to think of themselves as the captains of their destiny, sailing the ship of their life wherever free will chooses. God's choices, however, incorporate man's choices. God's sovereignty works through man's responsibility to infallibly accomplish God's will and a person's free choices. How does God do that? Come, study the Scriptures with me, and learn about God's Choices.

  • - Habakkuk
    av James D Quiggle
    161

A thoroughly exegetical discussion and application of the Book of Habakkuk. The interpretation is conservative theologically and closely follows the historical-grammatical hermeneutic. Attention is paid to Calvinistic and Dispensational perspectives.

  • - The Doctrines Briefly Explained
    av James D Quiggle
    171

The essential beliefs of the Christian faith are those which are the sine qua non (literally, "without which nothing"), that if missing or denied Christianity ceases to be genuine biblical apostolic Christianity. The doctrines in this book are those developed by the early church-the long-standing historic essentials-and other doctrines developed over the long history of the church in response to false teachings. There are a few that are a response to worldly culture and values invading-infecting-the New Testament church. This work is a concise and relatively non-technical presentation of what I believe are the essential doctrines every believer in Christ as Savior should believe, understand, and profess.

  • - A Biblical Perspective
    av James D Quiggle
    141

Marriage and Family: A Biblical Perspective explores the biblical principles and precepts-rules for living-that are the basis for the practical aspects of being married and raising a family. Along the way it does discuss a few "do this/don't do that" rules. Beginning with Adam and Eve, the book presents God's definition of marriage, what Jesus said about marriage, and clearly defines what marriage is and is not, in terms of how modern society views marriage. The biblical rules for sexual activity, friendship, dating, and courting are discussed. God's rules for being married and practicing parenting are presented in clear, easy-to-understand terms. God's view of divorce is thoroughly examined. Seven appendices repeat the rules (without the discussion) and answer questions on related issues.Anyone may read the book and profit from it, including Bible teachers and pastors preparing marriage and family classes. If you want to know the biblical view of sex, dating, courtship, marriage, parenting, and divorce Marriage and Family: A Biblical Perspective is the book for you.

The James Quiggle Translation of the New Testament (JQTNT) is the culmination of ten years of translation and exegesis of the New Testament books. My purpose was to produce a translation that replicated, as closely as possible, what I believe the original readers would have read in the autographs. The 1904 Nestle text was the primary text, supplemented by later editions, trusted lexicons, textual critics, and grammarians, and compared against eight older to modern translations dating from 1535 to 2005. The result is a translation that reflects the vocabulary and grammar of the New Testament text, and accurately communicates God's word to the believer.

  • - Esther
    av James D Quiggle
    157

Esther is about God's grace, providence, and promises. It is also a story about compromise, worldliness, and pride-and that's the good guys! How the believer can compromise his or her faith for worldly gain, and how God will be true to himself to protect and preserve his people, is the story of Esther. The interpretation is based on a translation by the Author. The Private Commentary series is written for Bible teachers, pastors, and college students. Each book in the series explains the Scripture and includes insightful comments and biblical background from other commentators.

  • - Song of Solomon
    av James D Quiggle
    171

The purpose of this commentary is to describe what the Song means in a biblical context. The Song of Solomon is all too often portrayed as a sort of sex manual for Christians, or as erotic or pornographic literature, or as a story of illicit love (fornication, adultery). In this commentary the biblical injunctions against sexual immorality and for married love are faithfully followed. Symbols and figures are explained by the normal use of language and according to biblical usage. The Song of Solomon describes the first love and marriage of Solomon before he became king. The Holy Spirit uses the Song to teach his people the ways, means, and joys of friendship and love, courtship and marriage, home and family

Life, Death, Eternity is a path through the thicket of opposing opinions, explaining biblical answers to the most important questions about life and the afterlife: what makes us alive, where do we go after physical death, and how do we get there. Life, Death, Eternity is a thorough Bible study of Sheol, Hades, Gehenna, Heaven, resurrection, the Bema Seat judgment, the Great White Throne judgment, the Lake of Fire, and the Eternal state.

The "Christmas Story" has many variations, depending on the form and details given by the sect, denomination, local cultural beliefs, Christian writer, Hollywood movie, the year's most popular preacher, hymns and popular "Christmas" songs, public nativity scenes, and local church nativity plays. Misinformation abounds. If you populate your nativity scene with cattle and oxen and drummer boys, three kings from the east, and a feeding trough in which lays a baby Jesus with a halo, you have missed the true story, the biblical story of the birth of Jesus the Christ. I invite you to discover the genuine Christmas Story, which begins with an evil King, and ends with the birth of the King of Kings.

The Passion and Resurrection of Jesus the Christ is a gospel harmony and exposition of the four gospels from two days before Christ's final Passover celebration through his Ascension into heaven. The gospel harmony is in the form of a combined narrative, using my translations of the four gospels. The harmony combines Matthew 26:1-28:20; Mark 14:1-16:20; Luke 22:1-24:53; and John 12:1-21:25 into a continuous, chronologically arranged narrative of the events and discourses. The exposition is based on my published commentaries on Matthew, Mark, and John, plus Luke's contribution to the gospel narratives, presenting a detailed explanation of the scriptures in the harmony. Combining the Scriptures into a continuous narrative at once reveals the agreement of the gospels. The authenticity, accuracy, and credibility of the four reports of the life of Christ is demonstrated. Many issues are resolved and insights gained. Among these are the Passover problem in John 18:28, Peter's two sets of three denials, and Christ's two scourgings by Pilate. Mark 16:9-20 is shown to harmonize with the reports of the other gospels. The problem of the supper at Bethany, reported on different days by John and the Synoptics, is resolved. A discussion of the relationship between ancient and modern days and dates precede the harmony, and two appendices discuss Peter's denials and Mark's ending. The harmony and exposition are structured in a day by day format, from Nisan 13 to Iyar 27 (April 1-May 17, AD 33). Every event and every discourse is included in the harmony and explained in the exposition. The Bible student will gain a new appreciation of the Person and work of Jesus the Christ.

The incarnation of God the Son in Jesus of Nazareth was the most significant act of God since the creation of the universe. God Became Incarnate is an in-depth examination of what it meant for God to become incarnate in a human being; how the incarnation was accomplished through a virgin birth; the baptism and temptation, and the necessity of the incarnation and resurrection to Christ's propitiation for mans' sins. The incarnation and resurrection were also vital to Christ's heavenly intercession, his return for his church, and his second advent. The year and location of the virgin birth are determined according to biblical and secular history. Though in-depth, the discussion is accessible to every student of the Bible, and will be found suitable for all Bible study/small group studies, Sunday Bible classes, Pastors, and College students. James D. Quiggle is the author of several biblical commentaries on Old and New Testament books. God Became Incarnate is part of his doctrinal series,

"A Biblical Response to Same-gender Marriage" was written to encourage participation in a discussion of one of the most troubling moral questions of the current generation. "A Biblical Response" will inform and arm Christians with biblical truth and encourage them to take the Gospel of Salvation to everyone, including the sexually immoral. This book is a shorter version of my book "Biblical Homosexuality," with new material focusing on same-gender (same-sex) marriage. I explain what Jesus said in the Gospels about marriage as the union of one man with one woman, and what he said about sexual morality in Revelation. Taking the premise that Jesus is God the Son incarnate, I discuss what God told Israel in Leviticus, and Christians in Romans and 1 Corinthians, about sexual immorality. Discussions of Genesis 2:24 (the basis for Jesus' teaching in the Gospels about marriage) reveal God's design for marriage and sexuality. Discussions of Leviticus 18-20 show that the prohibitions against sexual morality, including homosexuality, are not based in a prohibition of pagan religion practices ca. 1445 BC, but are applicable in every generation from Moses' time to today. The fallacies of homosexual arguments, such as the "I was created this way," or the "genetic predisposition" argument are revealed. Homosexual caricatures of the unloving Christian are also discussed and the true character of God's love for sinners, including the homosexual, is revealed. The low cost of the book has been deliberately set to encourage the widest distribution and participation in the religious and cultural discussions of same-gender marriage.

The doctrine Jesus descended into hell has been professed and opposed from the earliest days of the church. Today the doctrine is professed by Anglican and Lutheran creeds and individual believers within various denominations. Did Jesus go to hell? This book thoroughly examines all the evidence for the doctrine, pro and con. A chapter each is devoted to the Apostolic Creed; a statement of the doctrine; the origin and history of the doctrine; doctrinal issues; what scripture says about Sheol, Hades, and paradise; he timeless efficiency of Christ's propitiation; scripture passages used to support the doctrine. Two appendices address recent developments in Annihilationism that impact the doctrine.Whether you believe Jesus descended into hell, or are trying to decide, here is a solid analysis of all the information for you to consider.

Why buy a book on the Antichrist? Because while other books focus on when he will arrive and what he will do, this book does much more. The Antichrist has an historical past as well as a prophesied future. He will inherit the biblical-world kingdoms of his ancestors. He will exploit their religions and create his own. He is a recurring theme in Satan's designs to rule the world and receive worship. He will fulfill those evil designs. He will cause the death of millions and be responsible for world-wide destruction. He will be almost as evil as Satan himself. The Antichrist, His Genealogy, Kingdom, and Religion discovers the biblical portrait of the Antichrist through an in-depth discussion of every prophetic mention in Daniel, the Gospels, Paul's epistles, and the Revelation. The conclusions reached are fit together to form his biblical story. The study includes a review of the Antichrist's career and an imagined scenario of his entry into the world, rise to power, evil acts, and certain destruction at the return of Jesus Christ. Two appendices provide a time-line of the events of the tribulation and answer the question, Are the Rapture and Tribulation Near?

  • - Jude
    av James D Quiggle
    171

Jude writes to a first century Church in danger of being overcome by false doctrines and false teachers. Is the twenty-first century Church any different? Jude teaches Believers to recognize false teachers by their moral character, and false doctrine by its three characteristics of unbelief, defilement, and rebellion. Along the way he confirms the major doctrines of the historic Christian faith, and teachers Believers how to deal with apostates in the church. From a translation by the author.

  • - Pastoral Letters
    av James D Quiggle
    261

A Private Commentary on the Bible: Pastoral Letters, gives you a complete resource for studying an important section on Scripture concerned with the doctrine of ecclesiology: the doctrine of the New Testament church. Paul's pastoral letters speak to the work of a pastor, proper order in the local church, and various encouragements. Each letter has a primary focus: 1 Timothy, the pastor in the local church; Titus: the local church planter; 2 Timothy, encouraging the discouraged pastor. Nine appendices provide additional information on diverse subjects relevant to the exegesis.

  • - Daniel
    av James D Quiggle
    281

The commentary is in two parts. Part one is a discussion of Daniel's faith in a pagan land separated from temple and sacrifices, persevering in his faith by faith alone. Part two is a explanation of the prophecies Daniel received during the times of the Babylonian and Medo-Persian Empires. Some of the the prophecies explain Israel's future up to the time of their independence in 164 BC. Other prophecies explain the future history of the biblical world, Christ's advents, the Antichrist, and the Tribulation. The commentary uses Dispensational theology to explain the eschatological prophecies.

This book was written for Christians, but non-Christians will also profit. The purpose is to explain the biblical doctrine of sexual morality, particularly as it concerns homosexuality, and exhort Christians to practice the biblical morality God requires of his saved people: steadfast in tolerance, faith, practice, and giving the gospel of salvation. The Christian problem with sexual immorality in general, and with homosexuality in particular, is not the practice of these things by others. The circumstance of living in the world means the Christian by necessity tolerates sin in non-believers. The Christian's problem is when he or she accepts or approves the cultural values that accept, approve-and may even positively encourage-sexually immoral practices. Some Christians have decided to obey men rather than God. By the end of this book you should know God's values, principles and precepts concerning sexual morality. You should know that the Old Testament precepts prohibiting sexual immorality remain in force today, and why. You should know that Old Testament moral standards are repeated in the New Testament. You should understand how sexual morality applies to yourself and to others. You should know your godly duty toward yourself and others concerning sexual morality.

The commentary was written for the the Bible study group leader, Sunday School teacher, local church Pastor, and Bible college student. The point of view is a conservative theology. Bible students who desire to understand and apply the scriptures are invited to study the book with me and come to their own conclusions.

  • - Haggai
    av James D Quiggle
    171

A theologically conservative, historical-grammatical interpretation of the Old Testament book of Haggai with attention to Dispensational perspectives. The book is viewed as the inspired word of YHWH to his people through the prophet Haggai. The response of the remnant to YHWH is analyzed within the historical context of the book. Appropriate applications made to the practice of Christianity. Though a small book, the prophet has much to say about fear, faith, and blessing.

  • - Philemon
    av James D Quiggle
    171

Through Paul's letter to Philemon the Holy Spirit created Scripture instructing the church how and why to reconcile with sinning Christian brethren. • - Judges
    av James D Quiggle
    161

Judges is the record of the failure of the people of God to possess what God had given them for a possession. God had given them the land, and led them into it, but they failed to fully possess their possessions. That is why the book has meaning for Christians. Through Israel's failures, and their successes in the book of Judges, the Christian can learn how to fully possess all the spiritual benefits of salvation Christ has for them in this mortal life. This commentary explains the book and draws out the lessons for God's saved people.
