This is the third book featuring Greek tough private detective Plato Cartessis who is involved in a murder case when his business card is discovered by the Police in the pocket of a dead little man, executed with five bullets right outside his house - the same little man who had approached him two hours ago at a book presentation, crowded by fans of the author, told him he had a "case", but fled after grabbing Plato's card, as if scared away by something he had seen. Plato is taken to the crime scene where he explains to Captain Politis, in charge of the investigation, what his connection with the dead man was. Upon leaving the crime scene, a beautiful Ukrainian girl hidden in a dark street calls Plato's name, explains to him in broken Greek that the "case" the little man had mentioned concerned her, but before telling the whole story, Plato is attacked from behind by two men and left unconscious. When he recovers his senses, the girl has disappeared leaving behind, either on purpose or by accident, her cheap cell phone. Using that, Plato, contrary to police advice, will throw himself into a life-risking investigation that results in the revelation of a most inhuman enterprise - trafficking.

" . . . Blackmail of innocent and unarmed people, robbery, murder of men and women, pitiless torture of priests, doctors, and school-teachers, mutilation of bodies, arson of churches, anarchic dynamite against any friend of law and order, destruction of Orthodox Christians and Muslims, terrorization, bloodshed by slaughter, plunder . . . "That's how foreign correspondents and Consuls described the orgy of blood in Turkish-occupied Macedonia, and when cavalry Lieutenant Calergis volunteered to become a guerilla, risked his life to cross the inaccessible north, had a personal experience of the situation and realized that reality was even more tragic, he swore on the blood of the dead to pay the murderers in the same coin.
