Ruling over a human population of over 100 billion and an area of space spanning 60 light-years, Alyie faces challenges such as an invasion by a savage civilization, a sacrifical cult from ancient Earth times, monsters from an alien planet and tyranny within the Federation hierarchy. All this while Alyie struggles with personal problems concerning herself and her growing family.
