In ancient times, the horse was used to transport people, tools, weapons, and in some cases, even as a shield against Indian arrows. Nowadays there are several functions for the horse such as sport horses used for racing, rodeo, jumping, polo, riding, work, shooting, among others. In the events that use sport horses, they usually use the teeth as an indicator to calculate their ages. The age of the horse is also relevant in the purchase and sale of horses, however, most buyers or sellers do not know how to calculate their age. The objective of this project was to elaborate a manual for estimating the age of equines through their teeth. This manual aims to facilitate the determination of the age of horses with the sole purpose of serving as a tool for sporting events, producers, technicians and the general public.

En la antigüedad el caballo fue utilizado como transporte tanto de personas, herramientas, armamento, y en algunos casos, hasta de escudo contra las flechas de los indios. En la actualidad existen diversas funciones para el caballo tal como son los caballos deportivos que se utilizan para carreras, rodeos, salto, polo, paseo, trabajo, tiro, entre otros. En los eventos que utilizan caballos deportivos, suelen usar la dentadura como indicador para calcular sus edades. La edad del caballo también es relevante en la compraventa de caballos, sin embargo, la mayoría de los compradores o vendedores no saben calcular su edad. El objetivo de este proyecto fue elaborar un manual de estimación de la edad en equinos a través de su dentadura. Este manual pretende facilitar la determinación de la edad de los caballos con el único fin de que sirva como herramienta para eventos deportivos, productores, técnicos y público en general.
