Children's book author Louisa May Alcott first released Jack and Jill: A Village Story in 1880. After the Civil War, it takes place in a small New England community. The aftermath of a terrible sledding accident is described in the tale of two close friends named Jack and Janey, Jack and Jill.Best friends Jack Minot and Janey Pecq reside next door to one another.
