Böcker av Paula Walborsky

STOP! This is Volume 3 of Unpacking Paula and it is NOT a sequel to books 1 and 2. No sequels. Just more of the essays, memories, opinions you found in the earlier books. I have been writing for years, and was a local commentator on WFSU's NPR. I am a military brat. I have taught the deaf, integrated an all black school in Thomasville, GA, been a family law attorney, a step-mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. I am Jewish. Some of these essays are funny, some poignant. All of them are genuinely heartfelt.

This is not a novel. It is a collection of very short essays and memories. A novel is a commitment of time and patience. Like a marriage. These are more like going steady with a good friend with a short attention span. Think of it as pointillist writing. A collection such as this is valuable when waiting in line at the DMV, while waiting for your mani/pedi to dry, while waiting period. For anything. The doctor, the dentist. Godot. For that watched pot that is never going to boil. These essays are not even published in chronological order. They are published in alphabetical order. They are a crazy quilt of wit and heartbreak written by an old woman who is rather a crazy quilt herself. Her name is Paula Walborsky.

This is Not a Sequel It is a shame I do not write novels. I could call this second collection something like The Son of Unpacking Paula. Or The Ghost of the Son of Unpacking Paula Returns for Volume 4, even though there is no volume four. So, how is Volume 2 different from Volume 1? All new essays. No repeats. More previously undisclosed memories. How are the two volumes the same? Same firmly held opinions, same format, alphabetically arranged. Great for speed reading and interminable waiting. She's baaaack.
