Falsely attributed to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, this splendid setting of the Magnificat text is actually by Pergolesi's teacher Francesco Durante. Originally in a five-part setting, the composer likely produced the four-part revision offered here. This new vocal score is a digitally enhanced reissue of the one prepared by American musicologist Clayton Westermann in 1968.
