The First Friday devotion is based on the apparitions of Jesus Christ to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun, in the 17th Century. Our Lord requested special prayers and devotions to honor and make amends for the offenses committed against His Sacred Heart. These involve making a holy hour on the first Friday of each month for nine consecutive months. First Fridays with the Sacred Heart offers inspiration and guidance for this devotion.
