Niccolo di Bernardo dei Machiavelli (1469-1527) was an Italian writer, diplomat, and political theorist in Florence, Italy (De Grazia, 1994). Machiavelli wrote and published many books and plays but is most famous, and infamous, for one book. In The Prince, Machiavelli developed series of thoughts and methods on obtaining and maintaining power, even when facing adversity (De Grazia, 1994; Ledeen, 2000; M cAlpine, 1999).
