Der historische Roman "Aspasia" hat als Hauptfigur die griechische Philosophin und Redner, die Lebensgefährtin des Perikles. Die Geschichte spielt im 5. Jh. v.u.Z. in Athen und entrollt ein farbiges Sittenbild der Zeit. Robert Hamerling (1830-1889) war ein österreichischer Dichter und Schriftsteller. Hamerling zählte zu seiner Zeit zu den meistgelesenen deutschsprachigen Autoren.
