The story of nineteenth-century missionary John Maclean, who lived among the Canadian Blackfoot tribe, raising his family bilingually, and adopting a young member of the tribe. Realising the folly of his proselytising mission, he instead dedicated himself to preserving The Blackfoots'' culture against the threat of colonial encroachment.
