The World Hockey Association Fact Book, Second Edition, details the renegade hockey league formed in 1972 that competed against the established National Hockey league for seven years, before merging with the NHL in 1979. It was the league founded on the shoulders of Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe, and where future stars such as Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Ricky Vaive, Michel Goulet, Mike Gartner, among many others, got their big-league start. The book includes a history of the league, information on the teams including formation dates, home rinks, owners and coaches, standings, team thumbnails, period-by-period scoring for all games, overtime goals, player and goaltender statistics, complete coach and player photo gallery, and numerous anecdotal stories.

The encyclopedia of the World Hockey Association, which ran from 1972 to 1979. It featured some of the sport's biggest stars early on, such as Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe, Bernie Parent, J.-C. Tremblay, Frank Mahovlich and Gerry Cheevers, then later, some of its younger players would develop into Hall-of-Fame players who played into the 1990s, such as Michel Goulet, Mike Gartner, Rod Langway, Mark Howe, Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky. In between, the WHA had its own star players, such as Marc Tardif, Real Cloutier, Robbie Ftorek and Andre Lacroix, and colorful characters such as Gordie "Machine Gun" Gallant, Gilles "Bad News" Bilodeau, Dave Hanson and the Carlson Brothers, the real-life inspiration (and actors) of the famous move Slap Shot. It was a league daring enough to place a team in the desert (Phoenix) and two in the Deep South (Houston and Birmingham). It was a league that actively pursued European talent, such as Anders Hedberg, Ulf Nilsson, Kent Nilsson, Vaclav Nedomansky and Lars-Erik Sjoberg. It was the league that brought the sport into the modern era. In 1979, four of its teams joined the National Hockey League, and in these four teams, lives on through today. With complete and accurate statistics for all players, all teams, all seasons. Includes the history of the league and for each of its teams, game-by-game line scores, standings, game summaries of important games, international competition, draft lists, all-star games, hat tricks, and many fascinating, interesting, amusing but never dull anecdotal stories.

This companion book contains over 325 worked-out examples of questions commonly seen in a standard collegiate multivariable and vector calculus course. The purpose is to give students extra examples to study, with more depth to the explanations, than might be found in a textbook. Topics covered in this book are the xyz-coordinate axis system, vectors, lines and planes, dot and cross products, projections, multivariable functions and their graphs, domain and range, limits, vector-valued functions, derivatives and integrals, projectile motion, curvature, partial differentiation, directional derivatives and the gradient, unconstrained and constrained optimization, the method of Lagrange multipliers, multivariable integration, polar coordinates, cylindrical and spherical coordinate systems, Jacobians, vector fields, potential functions and gradient vector fields, line integrals (circulation and flux), the Fundamental Theorem of Line Integrals, Green's Theorem, the del operator, divergence and curl, surface integrals and Stokes Theorem.

The Introductory Differential Equations Companion is designed to assist students taking such a course through detailed examples that may be lacking in most textbooks due to space considerations. This book contains over a hundred examples found in a typical Introductory Differential Equations course at the collegiate level. Topics covered in this book include methods of solutions of first-ordered ordinary differential equations, linear and non-linear cases, including Separations of Variables, Integration Factors, Autonomic Equations, Bernoulli Equations, Numerical Methods, and applications in solving mixture problems and proportional growth problems. Further topics include solution methods for higher-ordered differential equations, homogenous and non-homogenous cases, Autonomic Equations with constant coefficients, Linear Independence and the Wronskian, the Method of Auxiliary Polynomials, Reduction of Order, Undetermined Coefficients and Cauchy-Euler Equations, with applications such as the bobbing spring-mass systems. Laplace Transforms are covered, with examples for solving non-homogenous initial-value problems using Laplace Transforms, with continuous and discontinuous (piecewise, impulse and periodic) forcing functions, and special cases. Solution methods using systems with eigenvalues and eigenvectors, both Real and Complex are discussed. Further topics include Variation of Parameters, Exact Equations and Series Solutions. A practice set with solutions is given to challenge the student with their skills.
