As the world-renowned artist Edvard Munch said about his painting, The Scream, “Each individual is alone in their own despair.” To some extent this is what I have experienced with clients over the past 25 years. Being close to a person who can never admit, and who always has to be right, can be a lonely place, making it hard to explain and share with others.As one client said, “Seeing the image of a Wall was important to me. It made me understand how the bricks helped to conceal the true identity of the person behind. Everything that was shown to me fitted my partner. It was an immense relief to be able to  make sense of my partner’s behaviour.”This client’s reaction is just one of many and illustrates how someone was helped by being shown the visual image of the Wall.
