Gewers Pudewill is one of the most influential and successful contemporary German architecture firms. From their base in Berlin, founding partners Georg Gewers and Henry Pudewill are committed to a wide variety of projects: office buildings, conversions of manufacturing and commercial structures, housing, research buildings, and nursing residences for the elderly. Their designs combine functional and conceptual aspects with a highly expressive formal language. This book presents a selection of Gewers Pudewill's most exciting buildings realized since 2019, located in Berlin, Hamburg, Regensburg, Rostock, Stuttgart, and Wolfsburg. The lavishly illustrated volume features newly taken large-format photographs by the renowned German architectural photographer HG Esch, supplemented by five essays contributed by architectural publicist Ulf Meyer, who highlights the common threads in the firm's evolution and explains its philosophy.

The office complex in Karlsruhe is considered as Tadao Ando's first urban design in Germany. The publication provides exclusive insights into the creation and planning of the building. Architecture photographs and building plans show Ando'sdesign formula: reduction to the essentials, exposed concrete on the scale of the tatami mats, strict geometries, precisionand refined detail give the building its characteristic touch. The architect and client agreed on creating an aesthetic andenergy-efficient building that meets the latest technical standards and offers the employees the best working conditions.

Over the years, Luxembourg has advanced into a centre of contemporary architecture. Among works by prominent architects the oeuvre of one Luxembourg office stands out: Christian Bauer and Associates. This practice has enhanced the city and its surroundings. This monograph presents the practices' extensive and diverse output.

Der Harzburger Hof war nicht nur eines der fünf größten und bedeutendsten Hotels in Deutschland, es war auch immer ein ganz eigener sozialer Mikrokosmos und Spiegel seiner Zeit. Als herzögliches "Actien-Hotel" 1874 eröffnet, durchlebte es im 20. Jahrhundert Höhen und Tiefen. Einst Ort mondäner Erholungsurlaube im Kaiserreich wurde der Harzburger Hof ein Zentrum des kulturellen Lebens in den Zwanzigerjahren, diente später als Lazarett und nach dem Krieg als Sitz der Besatzungsmächte, bevor das gesellschaftliche Leben in den Sechziger- und Siebzigerjahren wieder aufblühte. Nach dem baulichen und wirtschaftlichen Niedergang in den Achtziger- und Neunzigerjahren wurde das Hotel geschlossen, nach einer ganzen Reihe von Bränden blieb nur noch der Abriss. In Vorbereitung auf den Neubau des Grand Hotels "Harzburger Hof" stellt Ulf Meyer Geschichte und Zukunft des Gebäudes in den Kontext der Entwicklung der Grand Hotels, des Harz-Tourismus, der Zeit- und der Architekturgeschichte.
