"Ursa Major: The Iliad of Ulysses the Bear" is a hardcover collection of the first six story books in the Ursa Major coloring book series: "The Bear who Studied Philosophy", "The Bear with a Need for Velocity", "The Bear with a Part-Time Job", "The Bear on a Quest for Honey", "The Bear who Probed a Picky Palate", and "The Bear on a Zoological Expedition". These are multilevel educational and entertainment books intended to build vocabulary, drive curiosity and a thirst for science, and inspire. Each pair of pages features the story of the bear as told from a third-person perspective, a charcoal-esque black-and-white picture that can be colorized with pencils, and an introductory factoid intended to encourage further study. For a younger audience, it is best to read to the child and pause to explain new words, even stopping to consult the dictionary for definitions of unfamiliar terms. Older readers should pay more notice to the footnotes than the story.
