    "Venus and Adonis" is a narrative poem written by William Shakespeare. It was first published in 1593 and is one of Shakespeare's early works. The poem consists of 1,194 lines and is dedicated to Henry Wriothesley, the Earl of Southampton.The poem is based on the classical myth of Venus, the goddess of love, and Adonis, a handsome young man.
