Lisa Levy is an established New York visual artist who hosts the popular podcast "Dr. Lisa Gives a Shit" on Apple Podcasts. There are over 100 images of her 'popular' text based artwork that comprise the art book "The Thoughts In My Head". The book was conceptualized by the written language that's out in the world — graffiti, signs, posters, flyers, matchbooks — in one big cauldron. "Depending on how it's contextualized, the meaning can be changed radically, often in a humorous way. When you use words without an image, the emotion evoked by the words comes from the context in style. When you see the painting, 'If I’ve never offended you, we’re not that close.', you see the words on a canvas — it reads as an artwork. If someone else places that painting in their home, that saying is coming from them. If I hand someone a matchbook that I have, with those same words printed on them, I’m hoping it makes them feel closer to me, and it helps me feel less self-conscious about being appropriate, which I am often not, though I have no desire to offend." For close to 30 years, Lisa worked as an art director in advertising. Through that experience, she experienced and learned how words were consumed by people. How quickly words are processed and discarded if they are processed at all. Through numerous focus groups watching strangers react to advertising campaigns she created, she learned how widely different the same ideas were interpreted by people in the same room. She believes ultimately language is the best tool to communicate our thoughts efficiently, and however woefully inadequate.

In "FAVORITE: Recipes to Inspire the Home Chef" cookbook, Chef Nanette Smalley of the noted ‘La Querencia’ restaurant in which she was the chef/owner, expresses her love and affinity for food, nutrition and cooking. Nanette had only one focus when creating the recipes to include in this cookbook.  That the recipes included are accurate and concise in which every cook, no matter the level of knowledge and or experience would 'all' reach the desired and delicious end result.  With the assistance of the professional organizations that support her passions: The National Association of Female Executives, The Roundtable for Women in the Food Business, and The James Beard Association she is well versed, seasoned and a trusted Chef. "I've accumulated a wealth of experience in preparing menus from aggressively simple to extravagantly gourmet. As well as knowledge of all major international cuisines. There are so many recipes out in the World, especially since we have online access. It can be very confusing to know the great recipes from the mediocre. I love my Cookbooks and enjoy searching for a recipe that I’m in the mood to create. It’s all relevant to me: the beautiful pictures, and the information about the chef and or restaurant not to mention the tactile feel of the cookbook. I often research various cookbooks and borrow a little something from all of them to come up with my version of the recipe. In my personal experience that many of the online recipes don’t work and it appears many websites have similar issues of reposting the flawed recipe. When I moved from New York to California to be closer to my mom I had over 500 pounds of cookbooks and four files of recipes I saved since I was 13 years old. Many of the old recipes are gems and need to be saved for now and future generations of cooks, and chefs. I’ve spent hundreds of hours going through my treasure trove of recipes to perfect it. The recipes I am sharing with you in 'Favorite: Recipes to Inspire the Home Chef' cookbook are accurate and if you follow my instructions will be pleased with the outcome of the special dishes you have prepared. This book consists of the ‘best of the best’ of hundreds of recipes in my possession. I have worked professionally as a Chef for decades and you have my word that this book will save you time and frustration."

Rafael Villamil: A Retrospective 1956-2024’ is an intimate portrait of a renaissance artist/architect from Puerto Rico as told through his artistic and architectural work, drawings, studies, press and personal letters divided into two sections (Art and Architecture). The ART section is a dedicated to his paintings, process, and practice, he had an exhibition with famed artist Andy Warhol. The ARCHITECTURE section features iconic buildings that he has worked on with others like famed architect Louis Kahn. Rafael has worked with famed architect Henry Klumb the former head draftsman for Frank Lloyd Wright. He was still making art during this time and had his first show at the University of PR in 1961. The show became controversial sparking protests fanned by the local newspapers not because of any perceived obscenity but, because the work was displayed on construction forms provided by Villamil. In 1963, with a recommendation from Henry Klumb, Villamil moves to Philadelphia to start working with architect Louis Kahn. At the same time, he was garnering attention as a visual artist. He never stopped creating art but his profile as an architect was well on the rise. He moved from under the shadow of Kahn but, retained a strong friendship with him and his family. He also taught Art and Architecture during this time. Villamil was working as an independent consultant until settling into a partnership with Mirick, Pearson, Batcheler & Ilvonen.  He later left them to pursue his own practice. Notes To My Daughter is for girls only. A book of positive affirmations to instill hope, change and fearlessness. From an early age girls and boys are taught to behave in certain ways based on religion, society, and traditions. These behaviors are learned and unfortunately and routinely a disadvantage for young women. As a parent of an 8-year-old bi-racial girl in the 21st century I fear societal norms and social media’s residual regarding anxiety, depression, loneliness, suicidal thoughts and the promotion of self-sexualizing behaviors. I don’t want my daughter to believe she is less than, or all she can become is someone’s lover, mother, or housewife. She isn’t anyone’s property, and she doesn’t have to give anyone power over her. Notes To My Daughter is especially for young brown girls. To achieve anything of real value in this life, you must believe you are deserving and worth it. If you can see yourself living the dream, then you can manifest destiny but first you must believe in yourself. This book comes from the unconditional love a father has for his daughter. My highest expectations for her living her best life. A written guide for girls that will empower, transform and transition them into womanhood knowing they are powerful, intelligent, and enough. Notes To My Daughter encourages girl power and women’s empowerment. This book features profiles of influential and groundbreaking Black and Latin women who have set the precedent and are proof that anything is possible. Notes To My Daughter is an insightful, and powerful book that will instill in your little girl that she is the masterpiece of her life and nothing is beyond her reach.

In the 1990s New York, the information Superhighway was a deer path through the vast woods. A time when Paparazzi wasn’t a bad word, and Agents, Managers and PR people would invite the photographers to their events in hopes that we would photograph their celebrity client to run in the gossip section of New York City's nightlife publications. I was a photographer in search of celebrities and had to speculate, guess, and make judgment calls about where and when they would make an appearance. I networked with Doormen, Groupies, Party Crashers, Chauffeurs, Editors, Writers, Business Owners, and Bartenders, and that was to receive information which was spotty at best. I knew that certain letters (CLS) on the license plate meant a celebrity car service as opposed to a regular black car. I knew the back doors of the Plaza hotel, the escalator in the rear of the Ritz Carlton, where the SNL cast would go for drinks after wrap, or when the guests arrived for the Letterman show, and the side door they would go through. After I captured the image the celebrity portrait was published in my column in Black Book magazine. The negatives, the leftover prints, or the slides went into a shoebox and a cardboard container and was forgotten.Life was good, then Princess Di happened, and we all had to stand behind a barrier and then the iPhone happened and now we are known as the paparazzi. Then the Twin Towers fell, and NYC went through a collective mourning. American Royalty is comprised of the images in the shoebox, all shot on film and with Celebrities who welcomed my lens and the attention.
