These chapters explore a number of issues in the contemporary study of Paul raised by questing what it means to read Paul from within Judaism rather than supposing that he left the practice and promotion of living Jewishly behind after his discovery of Jesus as Christ (Messiah).This is a different question to those which have driven the New Perspective over the last thirty years, which still operates from many traditional assumptions about Pauls motives and behavior, viewing them as inconsistent with and critical of Judaism.

Theological conversations about violence typically frame the conversation in terms of victim and perpetrator. Comprehensive theological responses to violence must also address the role of collective passivity of bystanders of violence. Beyond Apathy examines the theological significance of bystander participation in patterns of violence and violation within contemporary Western culture, giving particular attention to the social issues of bullying, white racism, and sexual violence.In doing so, it constructs a theology of redeeming grace for bystanders to violence that foregrounds the significance of social action in bringing about Gods basileia.

This dissertation intervenes in Reformed readings of the doctrine of providence, particularly around Barths critical interpretation of the tradition stemming from Calvin and Schleiermacher. Kim argues that while Barth advances the discussion, his reading of Calvin is significantly hampered by his challenge to Schleiermacher. Kim provides an extensive reading Calvins writings, demonstrating that Calvin is more concerned with the Christological basis and Christian meaning of providence than Barths theology recognizes; as well, Schleiermachers theological construction problematizes aspects of Barths reading.

Recent Developments in Trinitarian Theology explores the major renaissance that Trinitarian theology has undergone in recent decades. The focus of this symposium is the role English-language theology plays in the renewal of Trinitarian theology. Its purpose is twofold: to gather international thinkers to present the major developments in Trinitarian theology and to show how Trinitarian theology can contribute to new thinking in contemporary systematic and critical fields, including political theology and the theology of religions.

This book argues that texts--even literary texts--, have an eschatology, too, a part in God's purpose for the cosmos. This eschatological future for texts impacts how we understand meaning making, from the level of semiology to that of hermeneutics. This book tells the story of how readers participate in the future of the word, the eschatology of texts. If texts have a future in the kingdom of God, then readers' engagements with them--everything from preservation and utterance to translation, criticism, and call and response--can cultivate those futures in the love of the Trinity. Kriner explores how the fallenness and failures of texts, alongside readers' own failures, while seeming to challenge the future of the word, ultimately point to reading as a posture of reconciliation, in which reader and text meet in the Maranatha of all text.
