John has always been interested in words and the meanings behind the words. Maybe it was the family Scrabble games, where he found himself vying with academic parents and competing brothers for the perfect "e;triple word score"e;, or John's life-long passion for crossword puzzles. In any case it was not a surprise that John would eventually hit upon the unique idea of a visual pun, which he called a SCHIZONYM! John, in his own words, describes the genesis of this creative approach. "e;Once I noticed that some words became another word, when the first letter was removed; it was automatic for me to draw or illustrate the distinction. And then I did more of them to the point where they were an obvious collection. The word "e;schizonyms"e;, relating to the word's split personalities, applied easily."e; Viola!

Between two worlds there lays a realm, a place of mystic wonder Tread lightly in that place or you may be pulled underDwell not on all the things you have you'll not take them anywayPerhaps you will return, or more likely you will stayMargo's life was simple, her feet firm on the groundUntil she fell into a hole, a new world she had foundNever again, she told herself, will I wonder through the mazeIt seems I'll meander here until the end of daysThe vines of terror tried to seize her mind, her will extremely strongShe had it wrap around itself while pretending to go alongGiving way to fear was not her style, she knew that she would winFirst to throw off tyranny, yet where do I beginShe saw a sliver of light, behold, which direction shall I goLike a moth drawn toward the light, curiosity it did showAt first the shapes did not make sense, raising her defenseShe fathomed it a reptile with wings, but that did not make senseThe fog retreated, the sun peeked in, the cave where she did resideSurely a dragon, just as bewildered stood there by her sideA mysterious dream, she told herself for dragons are not realYet scales I touch upon them, and red eyes pierce like steel While walking through the maze of life, encounter things we mustYour eyes, your ears, the smell of things, in which one do you trustWhen you think things make no sense to you, in your world you preside Yet you have to wonder, how about the possibilities on the other side

This book was written to teach young children the awareness and exposure of different cultural backgrounds. I had a vision on how we can make culture part of education, and I've realized that each and every one of us is part of that vision. It is time to design and set a framework in which students can center their experiences and differences to explore, accept, and embrace who they are through stories. This book both teaches and allows students to make connections, relate, identify, and accept themselves and others.

Recently, Hal read on YouTube and other places about a group of perhaps a hundred people, worldwide, who have perfect recall: they remember everything and often have very emotional reactions to vivid parts of their life which they are able to evoke. And this bit of interesting trivia pointed him in the direction of "e;Deadliest Love."e; His first-person character, Jesse Jacobs, tells of his struggles with hyperthymesia and its influence on his life as he tries to expand his computer chip business, as he falls in love, and as he attempts to avoid what the FBI has explained is a multiple Russian assassination attempt. He is able to intertwine Jesse's personal struggle with the ongoing and very real invasion of Ukraine by Russia through the introduction of the beautiful and talented Katerine (Kate) Kaputka, whom he has hired, as his business begins to expand. Chelsea, his wife, disappears shortly after their honeymoon, and he tries to use his exceptional memory to determine what may have happened to her. A year later her body is found in a shallow grave. The FBI becomes involved, and he joins forces with them. Jesse survives a long-range sniper attack and is told by the FBI of a suspected Russian plan for eliminating intellectually gifted Americans before they achieve greatness. He believes that fact could also explain Chelsea's murder because she was a high achieving virologist on the cusp of a breakthrough with the zoonosis virus. A final attempt is made on the lives of Jesse and Kate in an invasion at Jesse's home. The outcome of this encounter causes Jesse to sell all of his possessions and leave for Ukraine to locate Kate's parents.

As far as I know, no one else has done such a book as this one giving the history of the whole of Brown County, so I did it myself with the help of Rhonda A. Dunn. I cover most of the happenings in Brown County for more than 220 years up until the present time. To do this I had to make the book into two parts, the older parts are from the 1800s and that section is called simply, THEN. The stories of what is in Brown County since that time but up to today, is simply called, NOW. Then when we added the new history center, we went to three parts for this book to keep it simple to keep the history together for easier handling and reading. Brown County has changed so much in 220 years that it is amazing. But most of what we are today is what we started from actually. I think you will find this to be true if you read the book in its entirety. Most of the early settlers were from the states of the Carolinas, Virginias, Ohio and Kentucky. Many of those people or their offspring are still here today but we are having an influx of what some call "e;furriners"e; today. People today come from the cities to visit, decide they like it here as much as we do and buy up a piece of land and build a log home and stay here. It takes all kinds to make a homogenous group. I think we have done our best to accomplish that. So, pull yourself up a chair, grab a cup of coffee or iced tea, and set a spell and read all about us in this first ever fairly complete history of Brown County. Ya'll come back now, ya hear!!

The experiences I have encountered inspired me to write a rite of passage encouraging African/black boys to embrace their journey into manhood. This is a children book, with the goal of being a foundation to help young black boys prospective about growing up. The points I have outlined are simple frameworks that I believe every young boy should give some thought to. My intentions are for parents globally to read this book to African/black boys from infants to early teens on a regular basis. The time frame in which parents should read this book is as early and often as possible. The book is intended for the subconscious and conscious mind.

"e;Isolated Thoughts From The Mind Of A Convict"e; is an inside and first hand look at how and why some of us prisoners think, feel, act, and react(ed) the way(s) we do and or did before, while in, and after prison. We think just like you out there in society(s). However, some of us (not all) have our thinking processes manipulated by both external and internal forces, and as well as synthetic products (drugs, alcohol, etc.). War, rape, abuse, (mental, emotional, spiritual etc.) also play factoring roles. Another factor is our uncontrolled, unchecked, and or unlearned "e;selves."e; Trying to use anger for every situation, believing things like "e;Big boys don't cry."e; Not understanding Love, and or the many emotions within self. The media, and Filmmakers have all projected the atrocities of prison life, but have failed to capture the intimacies of us "e;Ex Felons and "e;Ex Convicts"e; whose minds have not been encapsulated by the "e;systematic mental manipulation"e; of "e;Thug Life,"e; the streets nor prison institutionalization.

This is the spellbinding chronicle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' religious dawning and their beginning in the idyllic woods of New York state. It then follows their most challenging odyssey as they are driven out of their homes by great cruelty from four different states, and then finally completely out of the union itself. In the middle of the winter, women, children, and men were forced to cross the frozen Mississippi and head for their new home in the rocky mountains of Utah. After a year and a half of many trials on the trail, they finally made it to the great basin and settled alongside the Great Salt Lake to build a city. Fifty years later Utah became a most beautiful state of the union.

Over a three year period, I experienced three life-changing events. In 2019, I finally answered God's call and began the process of ministry candidacy in the United Methodist Church. In 2020, COVID touched the lives of everyone--affecting the way we work, learn, and interact with others. In 2021, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare cancer that affects the white blood cells and weakens the immune system. My experiences with my calling, COVID, and Cancer has nurtured me into becoming a better Christian and family man--and will prepare me for whatever life has in store in the future. This book presents insight on five lessons learned through my calling, COVID and cancer experiences.
