Charles Cash is addicted to the mayo-drips and brown buns of a Big Mac, so he undergoes a colonoscopy. Under anesthesia he dreams about his advanced high school history class (three African American super stars) and the sometimes-salacious diary they're reading from the Civil War. The diary concerns Charles's own ancestors, specifically the picaresque adventures of Cato Cincinnatus Cash ("CC"), med school failure and dope addict, and his paramour, Lulu Hartmann, German bi-sexual chanteuse. Charles's three students fall in love with CC and Lulu and their troupe, including Little Bug, a black boy about eleven who carries a frog leg around his neck that from time to time, turns into a wise counselor who keeps the little man from getting depressed. Isabell Feinberg, school art teacher and Charles's fiancé, points out that his students love him, but he has only shown them white people in the war. What they really want is to learn about slavery. What was it like? How did the slaves survive?Charles, a white man, is convinced even he can't teach them that...until he is himself transformed in his dream into a black slave and is hauled away to a rice plantation on the Pedee River to serve as a secretary for a masked, brutal plantation owner. Little Bug and Mr. Jam save him and bring him back to his classroom where his three black students are ecstatic. In his dream CC and Lulu are married and Charles and Isabelle are married. During Charles's ceremony, a trumpet sounds. The walls of the chapel fall away, and from all over the south, graves open and the dead of both north and south rise. They're grinning and they all march forward toward Charles. He's stunned and relieved and a burden is lifted from his heart. When Charles wakes up from his colonoscopy, (which took 30 minutes), he proposes to the real Isabelle and tells her he has been granted a vision. He's a lackluster Episcopalian, who doesn't normally believe in visions, but this one he believes. He is free from the Civil War, his ancestor CC, and his parents. He proposes marriage. The end.

The FBI hid crucial information about this shooting, made critical documents disappear, even failed to properly account for weapons recovered at the shooting scene. For many decades people have tried to "solve" the shooting, but I did. Even though the FBI concealed vital evidence. If they can prove me wrong, they will. Don't bet on it though. Because they can't.------------------------------------------------------------This work is not intended to provide escape from responsibility for Verne Miller, Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd, or Adam Ricchetti. The shooting never would have happened if they had not shown up and attempted to take Frank Nash from his captors. The difference is the Bureau benefited immensely from their wrongdoings, while the "assailants" paid with their lives.------------------------------------------------------------I did the best I could to bring forth information which guided my observations and conclusions. Perhaps others could do better. Perhaps even you! Bad things happen when authorities are allowed to lie and deceive without consequences. We are each responsible for our country. When the shooting was solved, I realized it was necessary to make the findings public. The families of the men involved, especially the fallen officers, ought to be respected enough to be told the truth. Especially given the problems the country has with the Department of Justice and FBI in the current era. Everything a freedom and liberty loving person hates about the FBI started with this case.

Too Big? identifies accountability standards. It examines five high-profile historical and current cases where accountability was/is flawed or missing: Robert Clive of the British East India Company, John D. Rockefeller of Standard Oil, Ralph Cordiner of General Electric, J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook/Meta. It shows how such people are not subjected to effective accountability. And it suggests remedies to improve accountability of those at the top of business, governmental and other organizations.

Through the media of poetry and photography, the authors explore relationships as they relate to the family, self and others, social concerns, and spirituality. The poem and the photograph can enhance and illumine each other. For example, the poem Absence relates to the emotional absence of a father. The poem is juxtaposed with an image of a deserted beach in the evening. Both the poem and the photo evoke the feeling of absence, of something that is missing. Working together, the poem and the photo deepen the feeling of abandonment and loneliness. In the poem, The Plan, which confronts the issue of exploitation of natural resources by rich nations, the book juxtaposes an image of conflict and turbulence. So the image of poverty and suffering is overlayed with the image of nature in a state of upheaval. In Night Watch, a poem that explores the sense of spiritual hunger, is set next to an image of seagulls huddled along a beach at nighttime. This black and white photo seems to work particularly well with this poem. While poetry goes back thousands of years, the advent of photography is less than 200 years old. But even before photography, the Japanese have often expressed the feelings evoke by a haiku with ink drawings.Art is not reserved for anthologies and art museums but is a way for everyone to learn self-expression and be in touch with their own creative spirit. The genesis of many of these poems is through free writing where thoughts and feelings can arise that may be buried deep in our memories.Bringing these memories forward can create the basis of poetry and other art forms. We all have an immense treasury of memories. If you doubt it, start writing sentences beginning with "I remember...". You will discover your own wealth of past experiences. While we hope you enjoy this book, we also hope the book will be a stimulus for the reader to further explore their own creativity.

Take a common aggravation. Your cat misbehaves. Or you suffer indignities while driving. Or at the supermarket. Or at the doctor's office. You grumble a bit, but then have an idea: "Holophrasis!" That means using one word to capture the situation! Hmmm. Let's deploy or invent an amusing word, and have some fun with misery! That's just what El McMeen does in this rib-tickling book. You'll be LOL and nodding in agreement as you enjoy it!Examples:You are at the grocery store, and another customer is doing dumb things and clogging the aisle. You have encountered "Dopeandhoggin!"When your cat refuses to use the scratching pole, she is practicing "Polavoid!"When the tailgater passes you at warp speed, you are experiencing the feeling of "Mayacopseeya."¿The book also deals with euphemisms - taking difficult subjects and making them sound nice and pleasant. El shares his two favorites in the book, one having to do with airplanes landing and one having to do with drugs (legal ones). There are plenty of others that will have you chuckling, and making up your own holophrases!

Based on a true story, The Jaguar's Heart brings to life the first encounter of Maya and European in the 16th century. It tells the story of Gonzalo Guerrero, a Spanish sailor shipwrecked on the coast of Yucatan in 1511, between Columbus' discovery of the Americas and Cortez' conquest of Mexico. Maya lords enslave Guerrero and his fellow castaways, but he eventually gains his freedom. Encountering Ix Chan Can, the beautiful younger sister of the Maya lord Nachan Can, Guerrero chooses to remain among her people and win her love. Guerrero earns renown in a war against Nachan Can's enemies, and finally Ix Chan Can's hand. After they have two children, the only other still-living castaway, the clergyman Jeronimo de Aguilar, brings word of Cortez' landing. Guerrero refuses to rejoin his countrymen, cleaving to his family. But with Aguilar as interpreter, Cortez conquers the Aztecs, and the Spaniards inevitably return to impose their rule and religion on the Maya. Nachan Can now demands that Guerrero fight, and at last accepting that he must do so to protect his family, Guerrero tragically stakes his life for his adoptive people against ever-mounting odds. The Jaguar's Heart reveals the struggle of a man caught between cultures and conflicting loyalties at a pivotal moment in the history of the Americas. It is a book with the captivating setting of Gary Jennings' Aztec and its sequels, yet which reveals the humanity of both Spaniard and Indian, and with the compelling theme of W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear's Contact: The Battle for America series.

The title, Let My People Breathe!, is adapted from the Exodus when God sent Moses to Pharoah with His demand: "Let my people go!" When you read this book, you will understand the urgency that is reflected in the title.Let My People Breathe! examines science and Scripture to answer two questions regarding mask mandates: (1. Do masks work (what does the science say), and (2. Are mask mandates moral, do they violate personal liberties (what do the Scriptures say)?Dr. Scheidbach is known among his peers and his radio/podcast followers of the Brain Massage® show as a fastidious researcher of high integrity. In preparation for writing this book, he examined 964 scientific and technical studies searching for the answer to question No. 1 - do masks work? He discovered that while many late studies purport to support public masking to control the spread, not one provides scientific proof that surgical or cloth masks offer adequate protection against infection by something so small as a virus.Furthermore, he discovered our natural filtration provides far superior protection than the masks recommended by CDC, WHO, and Fauci. And disturbingly, he discovered masks can interfere with natural filtration and actually facilitate infection. He documents his research thoroughly in his book and provides his readers access to every article he examined, along with his extensive research notes (over 800 pages), in separate downloadable files. (Free to all who purchase Let My People Breathe!)On the second question, what does the Bible say about mask mandates, Dr. Scheidbach brings to his readers over 50 years of extensive biblical studies, including formal training culminating in an earned Doctorate in Theological Studies (graduating summa cum laude). He addresses questions about a Christian's responsibility to obey governments with biblical integrity and refreshing candor. He shows what the Bible actually says about the purpose and limits of government. His explanation of Romans 13 is worth the price of this book! In this section of Let My People Breathe!, Dr. Scheidbach reveals that the mask mandate issue has far-reaching political and spiritual implications.Let My People Breathe! could be one of the most important books you read this year!

Slitherings in Sleaufort introduces the reader to Bixie Lee Biddle. She was living a boring life, with a boring job, in a boring town-with no expectation of things changing. Plod, plod one foot in front of the other, day by day until, well until....Then she received a letter from a Sleaufort lawyer telling her that she had inherited a house from her aunt. The aunt lived in Sleaufort-a town with endless sunshine and a nearby beach. So fun!In a blink of an eye, Bixie had packed for the trip, stored all the excess stuff, sublet her apartment and quit her job at the medical research facility. She was gone. She knew that she could get a county job in Sleaufort, because her brother was important in local politics. She was so wrong. The tides had changed and her brother' party was out of favor. She did get a job with the county-custodian at the courthouse. So special. The job included toilet cleaning, scraping off bird poop from the courthouse steps, swabbing up floods on the floors from the drink machine malfunctioning. Also, the courthouse was very busy because of the pig farm controversy.Bixie slowly adapted to her new job duties. Friendships grew, and there was always friction with the county managers. However, much of the time they were engrossed in their grownup hobbies of mail-order porno and afternoon massages. The courthouse has many interesting people, with many interesting secrets. Bixie, being a thorough cleaner, read the trash in the cans to keep herself informed. So many marital flummoxes-should the husband break up with the stripper girlfriend, should the single woman ask for child support or hold out for the more lucrative blackmail option?Bixie was instrumental in uncovering the embezzling by the courthouse head, Miss Thomas. No good deed goes unrewarded. After Miss Thomas "left", Bixie was given the additional housekeeping chores of cleaning all of Miss Thomas' property. Some surprises were found; there was a mummified dog in the closet and all kinds of Thomas relatives appeared. However, not everything was work, work. Bixie made connections with several hunky men who were around. There was a yummy Spanish teacher, gone before his time, cooked in a tanning bed, and another guy bit the dust, but he was too skanky for Bixie, but he had his following. One of the girls was the barely legal neighbor of Bixie. He was greatly mourned. There was always light-hearted entertainment among the courthouse folks. Dick Dave (with breeches hanging low) and Dolly Thorne (reeking of rose perfume) were forever lovers, until they weren't. The temps added their own flair of drama, The policeman, one who never bathed, one who took a pig to the prom, and the third who did all the work were always up to something. Of course, Jade, owner of a marital aide shop, was Bixie's go to best friend. And the calories available. Fats fried in grease and then coated with sugar and maple syrup. Calorie count was 34.Life would have been almost perfect, except for two things: the dead bodies and the reasons they were dead. We all know if we find one roach, there are more in the woodwork. So the appearance of more Thomases, not a good sign. The adventures of Bixie continue in the next 7 books and the good news is, as of now, Bixie is still alive.

Ever want to be a doctor or wonder how a physician feels about healthcare? Follow one man's journey through medical training and his reflections on the process.Less Than Human is a physician's experience and 'insider perspective' into the abusive and corrupt academic, political and legal systems one navigates to succeed in medicine. There is a dehumanizing aspect of medicine/healthcare for both patients and doctors. Our academic system treats students and eventual medical residents as a disposable exploitable commodity and patients as throughput objects.Unfortunately, healthcare focus is now taken off the patient and instead diverted to total government submission under the mantra of 'Compliance'. Subservience to government mandates override patient care.Besides bone crushing debt imposed by the higher education system, medicine is practiced under heavy-handed political, litigious and media influence; this book offers insight and critique of the American political, media and legal systems which undermine the Doctor-Patient relationship. This book was initially self-published in 2015 to help improve medical care in this country, this second edition is culled to be more focused and concise, yet still clearly describe deficiencies and offer solutions. Direct common-sense changes (to this day not practiced) are proposed to aright a failed system of academia, healthcare and the politics that controls them. Many of the issues presented in this book weigh heavily on doctors, but also creep into many aspects of our society. The greatest coup in healthcare is propaganda convincing people to mistrust their doctors' and have blind faith in politicians.

Government Can Deliver presents a framework for government agency performance improvement designed to change an inefficient culture and drive operational excellence. It outlines how government leaders can drive such change, and most importantly, it presents a proven approach for creating an environment that will affect positive change. This framework, a set of practical attributes and implementable best practices tailored for government agencies, is based on real-world experiences in which government did deliver. There are examples in each chapter of agencies that implemented elements of this framework and the resulting impact on agencies' operational performance. And while mainly using examples from large federal government agencies, this book can aid those in all levels of government and differing agency sizes. In writing this book, Richard endeavored to create a practical guide on transforming government agencies that can benefit all readers-whether you have made government service your life, study government as an academician or student, or are simply a concerned citizen. After establishing the need for improved government operations , the book presents attributes and best practices for eight solution functions. When properly addressed, each of these functions can, individually and collectively, significantly improve an agency's performance. The examples and arguments can help agency leaders justify implementing the necessary attributes and best practices to improve their agency's performance. The final chapter provides recommendations on how a government agency can develop a transformation plan to incrementally implement the attributes and best practices for each of these eight functions.Richard has seen first-hand the amazing things government agencies can accomplish when they have experienced, capable leaders, adopt best practices tailored for government, and appropriately leverage technology to support improved operations. Change is hard, but through government leaders' and employees' efforts focused on implementing the right changes, agencies can significantly improve their operational performance. Under the right conditions, magic can and does happen.

Scientific advances have always impacted every phase of human life, but the impacts and changes in the past few years have been more marked and far more astonishing than at any other time in history. We have become accepting of those events and, as a result, the world we know is unlike the one known by our forefathers. This book explores some of those advances and changes, and the author shares information about events, discoveries, and incidents that have impacted education, government, religion, medicine, scientific advances, and -- of course -- our personal lives. This was done by exploring what is known about robots, ghosts, extrasensory perceptions, and life after death and the resultant changes man has encountered.

The Chief Executive Officer of a large private corporation has the Board of Director votes to thwart a buyout/takeover bid from a corporate raider. If the CEO is absent from the board meeting, the corporate raider will be successful.Complications arise when the young CEO is temporarily incapacitated by an automobile accident caused by his own immaturity and recklessness. To provide the necessary negative votes and protect the corporation from the raider, its astute Chief Operating Officer, governed by his 25+ years of loyal and significant service, covertly hires a look-alike actor to pose as the CEO. The impostor has to successfully deceive the CEO's BOD members, staff, friends, acquaintances, and a TV-viewing audience for at least two months. To further the deception, a young attractive actress is hired to pose as the impostor's platonic girlfriend.Therein lies the plot. The impostor plays his role so well that there are a number of attempts to kill him, thinking that he is the real CEO. What follows are multiple, ruthless attempts to kill the CEO impostor to ensure the corporate raider's success. The impostor's life is further jeopardized by an avenging ex-convict who blames the CEO for the death of his sister.Throughout all the dangers the impostor must not break character. His mission remains the same: Deception without Detection. "No matter what happens, no one must know!"This fast-paced story takes place across many venues: the Big Sur coastal area; the snow-covered mountains of Utah; a cabin in the Adirondacks; mega-yacht moorings at St. Tropez, Nice, and Monaco along the French Riviera; a New York City horse-drawn carriage ride; a rustic cabin in Sleepy Hollow, New York; a retirement village in Arkansas; a movie premiere; a late-night TV show; and corporate guest lodges in California, 1000 Islands, and Florida. The theme of the Imperiled Impostor is the conflict between good and evil, with this additional consideration and question from a Machiavellian treatise: "does the end justify the means". In the story, does deceit and deception justify the final "good" result? The story also depicts the redemption of a gifted and capable person who had been wasting his life in self-indulgence and self-pity.
