Every child has fantasies about fairies and dragons and everything in between. Children also have imaginary friends who stimulate their imaginations. Lizzie and Leopold are friends of mine and they spend a lot of time in my grandma's secret garden, telling me about the neighborhood. They have introduced me to all their garden friends, and we have many conversations about their lives and what goes on in the garden. This is fantasy through a child's eyes that everyone can relate to. Here's hoping you enjoy all the characters in this little book as much as I have.

  • - A Devotional of Scripture and Prayer
    av Rose Vetter
    287

"He Alone Is Worthy" is a devotional that uses the Word of God to inspire and stimulate prayer. Jesus is the Living Word-He lived out the Word of God as he walked among us over 2000 years ago. We can be sure we are praying in his name when we use the scriptures for prayer. Jesus promises when we ask anything in his name, we will receive the perfect answer from the Father. Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit alone are worthy of our praise and our prayers. The author hopes these scriptures and prayers will be an inspiration to the reader to discover scriptures that are appropriate to their own needs and offer their own heartfelt prayers up to the Lord because "He Alone Is Worthy."

I could have chosen a sports car or a women half my age, but the year I turned forty, I chose a carousel. This magical carousel gave me an incredible ride into midlife, turning what could have been a period of crisis into one of amazing creativity.Midlife is the time for going home to the Self and giving intense attention to living soulfully. I did not set out to write about transition; I was always going to describe the fascinating process that had brought Chuck Kaparich along on his journey. The metaphor was just too strong. I could not help seeing the similarities of Chuck's pilgrimage and mine. As I observed Chuck's transition, I was experiencing my own. The magic of a carousel spoke to the midlife transitions of two men from different parts of the country. Two kindred souls met and received the gift of the carousel's magic.

Writing this book was inspired by how I see the world and the church today. I look at what has happened to God's people and cry. God set rules for us to follow and directions to help his people survive. In Revelation, God speaks to the world about the past, present, and future. I see what he's talking about, and it's not good. If man will not change, what will happen to man? He will not be joyous. I put in this book some things you should take a very close look at to see if you see what I see. Also, take a close look in the mirror at yourself and see what God sees. I put a special chapter on the mind and how, when, and why it needs to change.

Today, we exist in the middle of a world torn by the ravishes of war, progress, and greed and the resulting wood, steel, and mortar that make up much of our habited areas often hide or camouflage the beauty of nature. Momentarily outside a window, a blue jay appears or a city is blanketed with the super whiteness of a snowstorm or even a child sees the annoying presence of a roach or mouse across a kitchen counter, and we pause to remember that natures' voices are all around us, and surprisingly, we are in the middle of it all.You will find in this book of poems a reminder that there still exits natural beauty in the sky, the trees, the ocean, the flowers, and within you. You will be prompted to take the time to look and to listen, and you will find its beauty. In Nature's Voices, I hope you will find yourself, and hopefully, you will find the joy and hope that comes from knowing the love of nature's creator . . . God.

  • - Jamie's Story
    av Karen F Norton
    301

My thirteen-year-old daughter walked into the living room and sat down beside me on the sofa. She was crying. "Momma, I think God has called me to preach. I had a dream and I saw a sea of people with black hair. There were so many people crowded together, and they don't know who Jesus is." I invite you to step into the very private heart of a mother and her daughter. This is Jamie's story - a story of courage and obedience, faith and doubt, heartbreak and disappointment, inner struggles and victories. A young East Texas girl who followed God's call to the other side of the world, Jamie loved the lost and those who have never heard the good news of Jesus Christ. Then why did she have to die? Through it all I have learned His grace is always sufficient and He is faithful to His Word. While in our home the last ten weeks of her life, we walked with her through that valley of the shadow of death. It was the most difficult and, at the same time, the most blessed time, for we saw God transition her from this life into everlasting life with Him. What a precious hope we have in Jesus! Not only that; the Lord has also walked with me through this grief journey, transforming my sorrow into joy.

Herb, senior custodian at Westside High, is down to earth, practical, friendly, governed by common sense, and just can't believe Ralph, a high strung and energetic biology teacher who can't sit still when he learns that a student in his class believes in creationism. He instantly organizes a debate in order to squelch this anachronistic religious influence in his classroom. The only problem was that in his haste, he failed to identify someone to square up with his pro-evolution candidate, a power-hitting, man-eating, societally accomplished intellectual, skilled in debating tactics. Ironically, it's Herb who saves the day by suggesting that Ralph follow up on his one and only lead-the father of the very student, Heidi, who provoked the whole campaign in the first place. Left with no other choice, Ralph concedes to Herb's suggestion. Heidi's father, Jim Britton, on the other hand, is a man with no aspirations for public exposure, a scientist working in the confines of a quiet laboratory, who genuinely loves God and the Bible, but is faced with a "crisis of faith" when he learns that his daughter nominated him to occupy the other podium.

  • - 30 Day Guide to Becoming an Even Better Woman
    av Shalanda L Thomas
    251

Many of us have the same feelings regarding criticism. It crosses gender lines, religious lines, color lines, and race lines, and that is, no one readily likes to be criticized or critiqued. No one likes to be at fault, and no one likes to be the object of humiliation, but in order to become the person you were meant to be, being criticized or critiqued is par for the course. It is a process we all must endure. This guide is intended to provide the keys in becoming an even better woman. This guide is intended to help you discover the woman God intends for you to be, your sole purpose for being created. It may even help you in developing areas in your life that need improvement. Those areas that need improvement can be the exact reason why there is a lack of growth in your life. This guide will also make you examine yourself. You should ask yourself, "What kind of woman am I?" Then try to answer it. Am I the type of woman that gossips, makes others feel less than? Am I pessimistic or optimistic? Can I stand not being the center of attention? Am I petty? Am I prideful? Ask yourself those hard questions and answer honestly. Then ask someone who you know loves you those same questions, and be prepared to hear the truth. If becoming a better woman and identifying your purpose is truly one of your ultimate goals in life, do not be afraid to ask those hard questions of yourself.

  • - 1-2): Volume One
    av Marywinn R Lent
    267

God has made Himself so very plain to me in my life and in the last fifty-years with my husband. We have seen His hand working for us, with us, and to us. My desire is to first reach our family and to show that God is alive and well in a very mighty way in the life of all of His children. Most people are too superficial in their relationship with the Lord and do not see or understand His presence. My main goal is to make God real in everyday life and realize that we can live our life in the presence of the Almighty God by entering into the holiest of holies with Him each day. Our daily walk with the Lord should be lived in the conscious presence of God as we carry out our mundane, everyday duties of life. My prayer is that this book will enlighten, encourage, enable, and energize you to find a deeper relationship with our heavenly Father for His glory! I desire for the "candle of my life" to penetrate into the dark recesses of this world and light the way for the discouraged, despondent, and dejected people all over this earth.

  • - Journaling a Journey from Madness and Mayhem to Faith and Forgiveness
    av T R Lilly
    191

Crossing the Borderline started out as a series of journal entries; some of which were e-mailed to T. R.'s therapist, pastor, and pastor's wife. They encouraged her to expand these stories of advocating for her own mental and emotional health. When this book was in its infancy, T. R. thought it was going to be quite different than what it became. She started out to write a-tell all about everything that had happened in her life. When she sat down and started writing, she realized that there were several things she wished she knew when she started out on this journey. It's about her journey through therapy, her need for medication, and finding out that God changes everything in life for the better. Taking one step of the journey after the next to find out that once you've finished crossing the borderline is when life just starts getting good, and that last step over the borderline is the first step of knowing that you are a person who is worthy of love and respect. So Crossing the Borderline is a book that T. R. hopes will encourage others who are dealing with mental and emotional health, encourage their friends and family members, and open the doors of communication and raise awareness for the needs of mental health and suicide awareness. For more information on Crossing the Borderline or T. • - Eight Stories Of Faith
    av Steve Tyner

The centurion looked at the teacher who sat before him and was struck by the authority that emanated from him. "Rabbi, I have heard many great things about you and I know you are a teacher sent from God. My servant, whom I love, is very sick, almost unto death. I know that you can heal him if you will."Jesus said, "I will come and heal him.""Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed! I know, because I am under the authority of my superior officers and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, 'Go,' and they go, or 'Come,' and they come. And if I say to my servants, 'Do this or that,' they do it."When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to the crowd, he said to them, "I tell you the truth, I haven't seen faith like this in all the land of Israel!"Jesus then turned to the centurion and said, "Go on home. What you have believed has happened."Faith. The writer of Hebrews defines it as "the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen." Jesus once told his disciples that the smallest amount of faith could bring about tremendous results, even to move mountains. But what does faith look like? Across the gospels are seven poignant stories of people who demonstrated a faith that dramatically changed not only their lives, but the lives of the people around them. A Grain of Mustard Seed presents these stories in a new expanded version as well as an eighth story that raises the question: What if all of these people met the Savior one last time?
