Princess Emilie's Reflection will help parents, counselors, and educators prevent or arrest self-images that can lead to anorexia or emotional issues in young girls. The seed of the princess's troubles begins with an unhealthy propensity to wonder and speculate. A jealous spell is allowed to adversely affect Princess Emilie--just her reflection--that only she can see. Emilie resists reason as she is convinced that her reflection is her true self. Ultimately, the king removes the spell along with exhortations and encouragement. This book is appropriate for young girls and yet may benefit older girls to embellish a life lesson. It is an enjoyable story with surface humor and a deeper message and call to truth in its ending.

  • - Living Beyond Sexual Addiction
    av Rebecca P Wood
    236,-

This small book is for those who, deep inside, long for more; for those who believe the choices they have made must forever separate them from the good life; and for those who wonder if life is worth living at all. I walked in your shoes for much of my life. Abandoned. Abused. Angry. Homeless. Hopeless. Heartsick. Depressed. Discouraged. Desperate enough to do whatever it took to find peace, I reached the end of myself.Shame and blame are as old as creation, and the results have not changed. When we take a wrong turn, we get confused. Too many wrong turns, and we get lost. But there is a map that can help us find our way, no matter where we are. It is the map of love, calling to us through every drop of rain, every sunrise, every star, and every circumstance, saying, "Come. Let Me show you the way."

Judging by my age (seventy-two and counting), I am old-school. Through the years, I have noticed the erosion of simple, good manners and virtuous living. As I pondered what seemed to be happening, it occurred to me that the one thing that I could attribute this downfall to is a simple but real lack of respect. I wanted to give voice to what I think could help in some small way to get us back on track.

Set against the backdrop of Europe with World War II imminent, Eastern Starlight, a British Girl's Memoir as the Wartime Wife of a U.S. Diplomat, is the third book of a trilogy by Jean Elder, the first two of which are about her China years. We join Jean and her husband, US Vice Consul Reginald Mitchell, as the newlywed couple depart Shanghai for their first post together, Warsaw, Poland, an armed camp surrounded by enemy superpowers and a haven for spies. Jean draws us into the fascinating but fiercely demanding Foreign Service world of international relations face-to-face diplomacy in a lifestyle that few of her peers would ever know at age 23. She shares with us her experiences engaging with Ambassadors and Ministers and their wives and Papal Emissaries at grand diplomatic soirees and equally important, as a diplomatic hostess having to plan and manage teas and tiffins and dinner parties at home. Protocol is a carryover from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and rules about formal attire, such as all but swords and medals (ABSAM) and stringent social etiquette, are followed to the letter. Posted to Dublin, Irish Free State, Jean, becomes friends with Sinead O'Flanagan, wife of IFS President Eamon de Valera, who opposes Britain and intends to keep Ireland neutral in any future war with Nazi Germany. Returning "home side", Reg is assigned the newly created position of State Department Press Spokesman and White House Press Liaison. Through Jean's eyes, we have a colorful close-up view of pre-war Washington, a city of lovely parks, Christmas lights along bustling downtown sidewalks, Beaux Arts theaters, and large department stores. Assigned to our Legation in Port-au-Prince following Pearl Harbor, the respect accorded her by Haiti's mercurial President, Elie Lescot, is invaluable in gaining access to medical attention when Malaria strikes her family. Based on her riveting wartime diary, Jean brings to life for the first time her incredible journey as a mother with two young sons aboard a Liberty ship in an armed convoy having to survive multiple German air attacks at night in the Mediterranean to join her husband at the US Consulate, Port Sa'id, Egypt in 1944. Eastern Starlight is about a remarkable woman of her era, not only because of the life she led, but the kind of person she was-----her moral character and compassion, loyalty to family and friends, willingness to put others above herself, acceptance of people of all walks of life, and courage when in peril. This is a compelling story that will resonate with readers of all ages.

Introducing the first book in a speculative fiction series called The Atavist Effect: Rika's Run, this sets the framework of an epic tale that starts with the actions of unlikely characters, whose pursuit of their faith, family, and freedom put them against distant, seemingly all-powerful forces. The story is told from the twenty-second century through the research of a maker's apprentice trying to keep a seat in the qargi, the maker school. Like a complex puzzle, he pieces together old family stories to discover how a girl changed the events of the twenty-first century. On a stolen flying contraption and searching for her brother, Rika sowed the seeds of rebellion against technocratic globalists quietly seizing control and restricting people's freedoms. The storyteller already knows that the world collapsed in the late twenty-first century; after all, it is a part of the curriculum in school. But the mystery is how it happened and how it all came back together. How do the choices of the previous generations impact the present? What is the right response when faced with difficult decisions against impossible odds? While the book deals with tough issues, it's written for a diverse audience--from youth to those blessed with age. The characters are multigenerational, opening the door for families to read the book together to discover and talk about what happens and how things work in the world between the pages. It's not science fiction. It's science possible. Welcome to the age of cold-steam--a time for the makers.

Change is accelerating and the world of 2023 is unrecognizable from the world that existed just five years ago. In a very subtle and incremental manner, American society has been transformed from what once was the world's premiere super-power, a country that was exalted as an example of freedom, justice, morality, and liberty, into a divided group of many tribes, cultures, and political and special interest groups often lacking a moral compass. We go with the loudest tribe fitting our basic ideals or choose to go it alone. And when we try to avoid the many tribes of destruction, we often tend to adopt the idol of the god of self. Community and unity are being left to die a slow, painful death.America's true north has become obscured because we decided to forego God as the light for our path. This has allowed us to quickly forget the race worth running as well as those foundational values that once comprised what we stood for as a country. But how did we get here and how can the trend of moral decay and divisiveness be reversed? The Great American Backslide came about as a result of not just understanding that our natural tendency as humans is to be selfish and sinful, but knowing we are being given substantial assistance by the dominion of darkness. This book will take us through an analysis of biblical, secular, and non-secular explanations of the existence of evil; how it induces cultural paradigm shifts aimed to ultimately separate us from God; how evil leverages our emotions, our brain chemistry, and our sinful human nature to manipulate subtle and incremental compromises of truth; how evil sustains itself and creates ever-increasing moral decay leading to further evil through a cycle of depravity; and how we can go about living in opposition to evil influences upon our world.

Hands of a well-lived life, proofing another godly inspired poem.Rebecca Gordon Gray was born in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky to Ben and Susie Johnson. She was the youngest of twelve children. She married John Paul Gray, I, and had one son John Paul Gray, II. She lived her entire life in Lawrenceburg and loved every minute of it. Her husband passed in 1981 and she never remarried. Rebecca was asked by many to write poetry for their events, and she did so willingly and happily. She was loved by her friends, family, and community. A real "cutup." She loved to joke and laugh about the simple things. Writing poetry made her life adventurous. She passed in September 2016. After seeing all the poems, she had written, I felt her life should be remembered and lived on in a book for all to enjoy. One of her poems was printed in the National Library of Poetry and was awarded the "Editor's Choice Award."

Bipolar disorder is not like black and white. You may ask yourself why. The reason is that the differences in the scale of each color or shade can be so subtle with full of intensity in its expression. Black can be made by mixing the primary colors in equal amounts--red, yellow, and blue. While white is a combination of all colors in the color spectrum mixed in equal amounts. In both combinations, the colors mixed have to be exact, or you end up with a different color or shade. What makes them unique is that black is the absence of light, and white is the presence of light, making them opposites and effortless. So why black and white? Because they are far from each other like the North Pole and the South Pole.Bipolar disorder has extensive alterations called mood swings that are also opposites of each other named depression and manic episodes, but still do not have specific manifestations or range in their state, no one is alike. There is no method, prescription, or procedure for any of us with bipolar disorder, and should never be categorized as one and never stereotyped. It is not easy to define it as if it is the colors or shades of black and white because every person who suffers from bipolar disorder should be treated as an individual case, not as a whole. Each case is different which makes this disorder extremely difficult to manage by the medical department and the patient.Medication is given, for the most part at first wrongly. What works for someone might not work for me, so it becomes a trial-and-error method. Not knowing if the medication is going to work creates uncertainties, and I fear for my life and my well-being. It is part of the process until I get the correct medication, and I am feeling well. When this happens, I need you to be with me, even if you are not physically here. I need to know that I can count on you, and mostly I need to hear you say that you love me. My prayers are that by the time you finish reading this book, you will have a conceptual understanding of what bipolar disorder is, and there are no misconceptions.

Fourteen-year-old Chad Chapel has a dream: to someday find a great treasure. Previous efforts have only awarded him trouble. His parents--his mother especially--often try to dissuade his adventurous ambitions, but when ninety-three-year-old Anston Kagle innocently shares a story of lost gold hidden on "Sacred Ground," nothing will sway the young sleuth from its pursuit. Chad secretly enlists the help of his best friend, Rodney Meeks, and schoolmate Maggie Pearce. Rodney is daring and unpredictable. The Sacred Ground is said to be of Native American origin, and Maggie is a full-blooded Cherokee, giving rise to Chad and Rodney's belief that she is the only person who can show them what to look for. Set in a small village in rural Southern Indiana, the search leads the trio on a roller coaster of challenging events, full of emotional highs and troublesome lows. Spiritual undertones--including the powers of prayer, ancient chants, spirits, ghosts, and curses--haunt the teens throughout their search. Difficulties and dangers far beyond their initial expectations plague their efforts. Yet they persist. Will the illusive treasure be found, and at what cost? The Sacred Ground does not reveal its secrets easily, and what is found surprises everyone.

Uplifted, Blessed, and Gifted. Yes, this book of poems is very spiritual. For example, in "Earl and His Pearl," the pearl represents the Holy Ghost. This book of poems is to uplift you in the spirit of Christ. I'm also the author of Some Truth for You. If you take heed to the words written and read them slowly, it will touch your heart. Certainly, God wants to communicate with you through the spirit of his divine power. The two books are written to encourage and lift up every person who reads them. As the author, I, Lloyd Byron, have been writing for years. I been gifted by the Almighty God, who created all things. Now as you read this anointed seed, it will bless your soul, and God will make you whole. As the writer, I encourage you to purchase one of these books and allow Jesus to bless your soul.
