In March 2001 I was Assistant Editor of Defence Journal Karachi and a chapter from my book Pakistan Army till 1965 was serialized in Defence Journals March 2001 issue assessing 25 Cavalry's true role on 8 September 1965.The account ruffled many feathers in Pakistan.Below is a account of this debate.In 1965 War Pakistan Army was still a very intellectually backward and biased army.Old units regarded themselves as families and regimentation was a religion combined with ethnic chauvinism.In this situation the fact that a newly raised tank regiment actually repelled an entire Indian tank division to retreat was unpalatable to the forces that controlled Pakistan Army !Field Marshal Ayub Khan a self promoted Field Marshal saw his parent Punjab Regiment as ultimate army and was heavily biased in favour of Punjab Regiment. Other infantry units and other arms like armour were looked down.Partly it was a Britis inherited tradition.In this situation 25 Cavalrys crucial role was simply downplayed.Truth slowly emerged when Pakistan Armys official history was written and published around 1985-89.

I don't know what happened to my life. Just a few months ago, I was independent and had an exciting job I loved. Now, along with my friends, I'm in hiding. Why? Because I'm one of the Five, a group of human women bestowed with powers and abilities to fight and control supernatural beings. A prophesy was written about us centuries ago. We are supposed to save the world, though none of us knows how. Now, Cornelius, the leader of a malevolent group known as the Faction believes that by killing us and absorbing our power, he will become unstoppable in his bid to control not only the supernatural domain, but the entire world. After evading capture and an attempt on my life forced me into months of hiding, I finally have a chance to take action against the Faction - as bait. Asher Leroux, the vampire tasked with helping me, makes me feel things I don't understand. It's as if he fills the empty places in my soul, spaces that I didn't know existed. As the final battle draws closer, I know that defeating the Faction won't give me back the life I once had, but maybe that's not such a bad deal after all.

One day while researching poetry exercises for my poetry class, I came upon the idea of Recipe Poems. This exercise asked the poet to think of a food recipe and write a poem around it, about it, incorporating it - however it would work.I loved the idea, as there is nothing I love more than poetry, except for food! So I wrote my first Recipe Poem. Being a vegetarian, of course, I was not going to use a recipe for chicken cacciatore.I fell in love with writing Recipe Poems and turned to the Internet for finding recipes. I Googled "Vegetarian Recipes" and found a ton of ideas. Some of those recipes were from various countries around the world and made for even more fascinating ideas for poems.The recipes and "facts" (like the history of potatoes) fond in these poems are true, and following the directions should result in preparing the actual dish being written about. I used my imagination to make up the stories that are told in each poem. They are not necessarily "true" stories, thought some are based in true facts. But mostly, I tried to imagine emotional themes that would tie in with the food being prepared, like the tears in the "Oregano Baked Onions" and a sick old man in "Old-fashioned Vegetable Barley Soup."
