Antonio Escohotado's General History of Drugs is undoubtedly the best general history of drugs. This is the first English edition of Volume Two Part Two. This covers the early Renaissance and examines how different cultures and countries dealt with the war against the witches, the experimentation with opium, and the medicinal use, rejection of, and finally acceptance of the new drugs coffee, tea, chocolate and tobacco.
