Brilliant Little Body is a collection of poems that tell the story of survival, of the blessing-and the curse-of being a poet, of seeking love and getting your heart shattered instead. Jenkins owns the body in this collection-every gorgeous flaw and every brilliant blemish. She claims every mistake and misstep, but she doesn't apologize. Instead, she possesses them, tucks them close to her skin, and wears them like a tattoo. This collection is brave and fierce, with enough humor to balance the tears you'll find leaking out of your eyes without even realizing you were crying.**I need to hire the speaker in these funny, vulnerable poems to be my guru. She admits everything. Her sense of the absurd is epic. She understands that humans have to make friends with chaos, that this is especially true for women, and that the imagination is the best escape hatch we have. She gets that beauty and appetite and loss and love and making a million mistakes are inextricable. "There's an earsplitting loneliness to this life-" she tells us, so we know we can trust her. Jenkins is a generous, witty poet, able to juice the fruits of melancholy and make them into wine. Amy Gerstler, author of Index of Women Brilliant Little Body walks into the darkest hallways of the self, shines a flashlight on the shadows, and calls them what they are: beautiful, brutal, and entirely human-and Jenkins is our trusty and whip smart tour guide. These poems are dazzling and quick, each as sharp and brilliant as an eclipse. Sometimes devastating, sometimes hilarious-but always driven by a white-knuckled hope and cynical optimism. This collection strikes the perfect balance of playful and ruthless-stories of grief, the body, and heartbreak are told with the kind of poetic light that allows each one of us to see ourselves with a little more compassion and clarity. Desireé Dallagiacomo, author of Sink The speaker in Brilliant Little Body vulnerably kneels at big questions then bravely seeks the answers. Brett Elizabeth Jenkins gently reminds us that human tragedies can strike anywhere: a parking lot of a Perkins, on frozen lakes, with butter dishes, but the heroic upswing of this collection is hope. We wonder with the sympathetic speaker what of the next world? We truly want to know, and we want her to tell us and show us these impossible feelings of joy, this wise-hilarious poet. Jenkins has seismically shaken our hearts with a tender field guild for living, this, her direct tap into humanity, needs to be on every poetry bookshelf. Erica Anderson, author of Midwestern Poet's Incomplete Guide to Symbolism

Ellen Scaccio has many hats she wears. Wife, Mother, business owner, and author are just a few. Ellen has written two other books before this, but this poetry book takes you on her journey of her life. Her life is full of ups and downs, but never once did she stop to the point that she couldn't or wouldn't go on. It's about learning to keep going, even when you just don't want to. There is so much more to keep going, and maybe that will be the next book. People ask me all the time, how do you do it, keep going at times? I guess I never thought I had a choice to just stop. What would happen then? Life wouldn't stop, just because I didn't want to play in this world anymore. That is not why I am here. I had to figure out why I am here, what am I supposed to do in this life? I have finally started figuring that out and it's been a long journey. But now that I have finished this book, I am able to start my next journey, since I have had some help figuring out what I am here for. Keep a look out, more books are coming, and I look forward to your thoughts, comments and questions.

Life isn't like a superhero movie. There isn't a script, and while you don't plan for bad things to happen, they happen anyway. Sometimes, they keep on happening without a break in the action, and if you look up in the sky, you may see a bird or a plane, but that's it. In these times of despair, it's easy to let negative thoughts invade your mind and darken your mindset, enticing you to take actions that might hurt yourself or others. But it doesn't need to be that way.Within the pages of this memoir/gratitude journal, you can learn how to see a light in the darkness and flip a negative mindset into a positive one. You can deepen your relationships with family and friends and widen your social circles. You can offer hope and inspiration to others who might be struggling themselves. Best of all, you don't need to come from a different planet, wear a high-tech suit, or get bitten by a radioactive bug.Imagine how powerful you would feel if you could overcome virtually any situation with the power of your mindset and make the world a better place for others at the same time. You would be the hero your community deserves and needs. The tights and cape are optional.

Rosy Gallace presents herself to the audience of her admirers with a fine book of poems in which she reveals in the first person-with grace, sobriety, and remarkable emotional transport-a varied range of the feelings she has experienced in the course of her existence. She describes with measured modesty the bittersweet episodes and the ineffable enchantment of young loves, thoughts, plans, and dreams that waned as the sun set. The plot of the poems reaches the present day then concludes on notes of memories filtered through that subtle veil of restrained sadness that runs through the entire work with calm tones, never aiming at pessimism or exasperation. The expressive form that the author prefers is marked by velvety phrasing, often enriched by appropriate and dazzling images that make reading very pleasant and engaging. - Fabiano Braccini - Poet, writer, and director Rosy Gallace was born in Guardavalle in the province of Catanzaro in Calabria and lives in Rescaldina, Milan, Italy. Since her youth, she cultivated a passion for writing poetry and stories. Her works have been included in several anthologies of contemporary poetry. Rosy Gallace is the creator, organizer, and president of several literary contests and poetry reading sessions along with book presentations. She also juries various literary competitions. She has published several books of poetry: Small Fragments, Remaining Days, Unspoken Words, and Traces of Memory. Her books have been translated into other languages by the translator, poet, and writer Irma Kurti.

Waiting for Better Times The Road of Being, Germain Droogenbroodt's latest poetry book, represents a new inflection in his already long career, with sixteen poetry collections published, several of them published in thirty countries. Although in the three parts that make up the set we will find diverse thematic approaches and interests, they all converge in that backbone that constitutes a concise and suggestive style that makes Germain Droogenbroodt's poetry unmistakable. The first block with which the book opens, refers to the mostly meditative part of his previous poetry, where the light of dawn, the flight of the birds detached from the earthly, the opening of the flowers, the miraculous beating of the heart . . . lead to a serene and peaceful panorama. And like that same dawn, territory of the unpredictable, of what is always to come, so the poet, "with words / that only silence / knows how to express," also does not know in advance the verses that will appear. To create is to obtain that vision, that luminosity, that illumination, which poetry offers and which is not only "a shelter for the word." A vision, with our eyes closed and turned inward, that allows us to see with total lucidity the external reality. The poem then becomes that bridge that reintegrates the inner with the outer, the poet, the human being, with nature. In Witnesses of a Time, not by chance the central part of the book, at the antipodes of all the above, we look at the crude reality in which we live: human alienation (entertainment) and control (surveillance by digital devices) in this technocratic world, in which also vanity and hatred so thriving in social networks represent the agony of discursive communication, of argumentation or even of personal thought itself: others (a robot, a chip) end up thinking for us. And with this agony, democracy is wounded and looks into the abyss of totalitarian horizons. Depersonalization, environmental deterioration, anxiety, and mental illness . . . lead us to ask ourselves "But is life / that is no longer dignified / still life?" In Without Return, the third and last part of the collection, we find poems that allude to the passage of time and our futile resistance to stop it, to the ephemeral and the changing, to our vulnerability and the ups and downs of life, to its fleetingness, to the non-return of what has already been lived, except in memory; to the autumn of man and his unavoidable path towards death. A death that, beyond the inequalities in which we live, definitely makes us all equal. Death sometimes also painful, and in the most absolute loneliness, as in the case of those killed by covid in the hospital: "None knocking at the door / nobody you expect, / no one, except death." The book closes with several poems about the invasion and war in Ukraine: all the horror of extreme violence and destruction in the image of a rope around the neck of the dove of peace, our most human helplessness, our immense fragility. After reading, it seems evident that the poet shows us by contrast how is the reality in which we live today and how it should be for it to be a dignified life. Thus, while man's search should lead him to the light (as expressed in one of the opening poems of the book), the reality we are witnessing leads us, through the subway tunnels of the technocratic mole, to the most fearsome darkness. Although if there is one thing Germain Droogenbroodt does not lose, as poets have never lost, it is hope: just as "that after the rain, / the sun will shine." Man continues to trust and hope-like the winter birds-for the arrival of "better times." That is his last verse in the book, his augured horizon, the greatest longing in these rather dark times. Such is, or should be, The Road of Being. -Rafael Carcelén

It's a common story. I'm sure you can guess how it goes.Girl winds up in the wrong place at the wrong time. She witnesses four gods of beauty and brutality murder some poor sap, and she's stupid enough to get caught.Come on. You know what happens next. You know they tracked her... me... down.I don't need to tell you that they claimed me. Ripped me from my safe, perfect world and bound me in chains to their throne. All of that is obvious. It's the part where they corrupted me, dragged me into their world of death and destruction, made me theirs in every way I didn't know was possible, and I became a soldier in a war that will bring all of Cinco City to its knees......that's when it gets interesting.
