The writer went straight to the root of identity crisis in females and proffered solutions. Please, do not get carried away by the title of this book; Hey Girl! This book is not for female teenagers alone. I recommend this book to adults, men and women alike because they need to be adequately informed and prepared to direct the girl child in her teenage years and I have not come across any other book to help make the job easy than this. Read it, and make it a gift to teenage girls, and recommend it other adults. The strength of any structure is determined by its foundation, so is the entire life of a woman shaped by how well she navigated her teenage years. So, girl, if you are opportune to have this book in your hands right now, consider yourself lucky. I recommend that you read this book over and over, reflect on its content and accurately answer the test questions. This book should be with you as a handbook for life. Be encouraged to share its contents with your friends as well. Special thanks to the author for this gift to the world. Victoria-Ann Osigwe"I found this well-writer self-development book to be a wonderful example of a project that aims to and achieves in uplifting, encouraging and empowering the reader. The author did a masterful job in breaking down broad, and sometimes daunting, topics such as identity, personal development, relationships, sexuality and goal setting in a way that is very accessible and should be easy to understand for the intended audience. I especially enjoyed the chapters that looked into understanding the value in oneself and the one about how to set goals and form discipline to pursue and achieve your dreams. the points and explanations the author gave were practical and very applicable; the personal anecdotes from the author as well as examples of other successful and inspiring women in the real-world help to put into perspective how achievable dreams are and how powerful the reader truly is. Also, the reflection sections at the end of each chapter give a good moment of pause for processing and truly digesting what has been learned. All in all, I highly enjoyed reading this book, and while it is marketed to girls in their teen years, I believe any woman of any age and background could benefit from reading it, if at least just to encourage themselves and remind themselves that they are valuable, strong and worthy of love, success and greatness. I learned a lot from it and I found myself remembering vital messages that can be applied to my own life while reading this book. Overall, I truly believe those who go on to read it after me will gain something valuable from it also."Ife Disu

As you have arrived at this book description it is likely that you are a therapist, or someone who is concerned about the wellbeing of therapists. If you are a therapist, then the chances are that you are struggling in some way. If so, you are not alone. Therapy is tremendously rewarding work. At the same time though, it is extraordinarily demanding. As a result, each year, many previously committed therapists burn out in their roles, or leave feeling discouraged and dispirited. This is a book for anyone whose voluntary or paid work involves elements of counselling or 'talk therapy'. The aim of this book is to help you spot, navigate, and overcome the common emotional challenges of counselling and therapy, so that you can continue to love the work, effectively support clients, and grow professionally and personally. Clinical psychologist and author, S. J. Southwell, draws on thirty years working in welfare, community, education, and mental health settings. She outlines the key personal, practical, and professional issues that contribute to therapist distress and disenchantment, and provides a wealth of suggestions to support therapists avoid or address the common challenges that arise on their professional journey. The first section encourages you to reflect on different aspects of your life that affect your work as a therapist. These include your habitual thinking patterns and responses, in Chapter 1, and your personal history and current physical and mental health, in Chapter 2. The second section takes a look at what happens in the therapy space, especially when it is likely to affect the wellbeing of the therapist. This includes Chapter 3, which explores the situations in which therapy tends to be particularly hard or slow, and Chapter 4, on three ways in which client work can have particularly powerful and disturbing effects on therapists, transference and countertransference, vicarious trauma, and moral injury. The final section addresses broader aspects of our professional experience, including our work context, in Chapter 5. The remaining chapters in this section address professional crises, including taking on too much client work too soon, and burnout, in Chapter 6, and professional crises of faith, in Chapter 7. The book assumes that if you are having struggles in these areas, you have already set aside time to reflect, that you are using all the therapeutic strategies and skills you have available to support yourself, that you have clinical supervision, you are engaging in regular and appropriate professional development training, and that you have a self-care plan. Of course, it is much easier to write this list of essentials than it is for anyone to put them all in place. They are so important that we return to them in the final chapter, Chapter 8, with some practical suggestions for how to consolidate your practice in these areas.

"Tabitha Potts's 'Crow Girl' is wonderfully eldritch and twisted ... Potts's character building is quite spellbinding" William J Brown in Horrified Magazine"Tabitha Potts' work is also outstanding... Crow Girl, also caught my eye. Told like a traditional fairy tale but using language in sparse, poetic and powerful ways, she follows the life of an abandoned child who is protected more effectively by animals rather than human society. Expelled from her village, she learns to assert a power that bridges human society with the natural world and ultimately acts as a healing force." I. Rosenfeld for the British Fantasy SocietyThis illustrated short story collection is a showcase for some of the dark short fiction the author has had published in literary magazines and online. She is inspired by nature, folklore, myth and local history and her interest in how women survive in a patriarchal society.Various stories by her have been short-listed in the Booker at Birkbeck creative writing award, the MIR Folktale Festival and the Royal Academy Pindrop Award among others and a new short story recently received an Honourable Mention from the Alpine Fellowship Writing Prize. You will find supernatural stories in this short collection as well as realist fiction. The themes which link these short stories are transformation and transfiguration. The author is interested in liminal spaces and thresholds between worlds - there are other influences on her work such as folklore, murder ballads, the Gothic and local history. Some of these stories fit into the folk horror genre, such as The Djinn and The Bells of London Town set in East London and Crow Girl and Hagstone set in rural England. The Djinn tells the story of an exorcism in a British Bangladeshi household while The Bells of London Town explores folklore about fairy bells and the famous nursery rhyme to create a story about a banker lured to his fate by the mysterious bells of the City.Crow Girl tells a story of an outsider in a remote community who fights prejudice and abuse. Hagstone is set in Norfolk and tells the story of a female academic in the throes of a divorce who finds a witch bottle in her home. The Edge is a realist story told from the point of view of a young girl on holiday.
