[Updated 2024 to include most recent data]. In recent years scientists have researched the phenomenon of Near Death Experiences (NDEs), and now have enough evidence to determine their validity. Dr Orson Wedgwood Ph.D., a medical scientist, walks us through this evidence. In addition he discusses the common features reported by those who have experienced NDEs and what the implications are for the long term destiny of each human consciousness, or soul. As well as the positive aspects of NDEs so often described in other books and TV shows, Dr. Wedgwood also discusses the evidence suggesting that only 10-20% of souls survive death, and of those that do, not all are destined to reach heavenly realms. Is "Hell" real too? The good news is that NDE survivors provide us with guidance from their encounters with "God" or other "celestial beings", on how we might safeguard the health of our souls to enable us to survive earthly death and reach the heavenly realm. It's all about Love. Put simply, reading this book, may prove vital to the eternal destiny of your soul.

Numerous people pick up the Bible and draw a conclusion concerning the reality of the text. Unfortunately, most of these differ one from another and sometimes even contradict previous interpretations offered. Why does this happen? If there exists no error in Scripture, wouldn't every person draw the same conclusions from the text? No, because though the text is inerrant, our interpretations are not. Our interpretations are as fallible as we are. We over and under spiritualize, we ignore the rules of interpretation, we read our schools of thought into the passage, and we force the Word to support our views by over emphasizing certain passages, while ignoring others. If this is true, then how can we possibly hope to interpret a verse like John 3:16? The answer is simple. We let the Bible interpret itself. And that is exactly what this book hopes to accomplish.

The impact of the contemporary ecumenical movement on the life of the Church in the 20th century has been immense. Orthodox involvement has steadily increased over the years and is now generally accepted as a given. Still, many questions remain unanswered and unasked. How did the modern ecumenical movement begin? What were the causes, motivations, and reasons for its development? Why and how did the Orthodox first become involved? Did the movement for Christian unity begin with the 1920 encyclical "Unto the Churches of Christ Everywhere" and arise out of a search for "unity in truth" and doctrinal agreement, as is often maintained? In this booklet, Fr. Peter Alban Heers, doctoral candidate at the School of Theology of the University of Thessaloniki, answers these questions, extensively citing authoritative sources of ecumenical history to bring us face-to-face with the historical record. The missionary movement of the 19th century, the YMCA and student movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the first World Mission Conference in Edinburgh in 1910, and the 1920 encyclical of the Church of Constantinople are all examined in order to shed light on the origins of the contemporary ecumenical movement. This booklet is essential reading for all those interested in Orthodox involvement in modern ecumenism.
