Project Brevis was an ambitious endeavor, a groundbreaking experiment, but it went terribly wrong. And when the fate of the Universe was in the balance, there arose a team of brilliant scientists, one courageous soldier, and one very special child. In the year 2046, two physicists have devised Brevis to open a portal through fourth dimensional hyperspace. The younger, Joseph Koenig is frustrated because they have had no success. But his more experienced partner, Alain Moreau counsels patience. Then, in December of 2048, they get their successful hit, and the portal opens. They have broken the dimensional barrier! Koenig knows they will be revered as great figures of science. Life is good!Until the following week. As Koenig is hosting a party to celebrate success, the mood is broken when he receives a call informing him that a body has been discovered in his lab. Things begin to unravel; they realize an unexpected anomaly is causing the portal to expand uncontrollably. Drastic measures are required to save the world. Due to an equipment malfunction, this effort nearly fails, but for a heroic Sergeant who sacrifices himself to fix the equipment in time. But the story is not over. Because when the dimensional portal was opened, it admitted Callum, an entity of pure elemental consciousness. And Callum, along with Koenig's eccentric genius son, Christopher, will ultimately lead humanity... where?A clue? It's not the first time Callum has been here. With imagination, complex characters and plot twists, The Callum Emergence carries the theme of interdimensional travel through unexpected, and troubling directions, to a conclusion that will leave you breathless, and wanting more!David Robertson Miller is the author of Thou Shalt Not Scoff (A Rational Unity of Religion and Science), The Rogue and Other Stories, and The Pipes Are Calling, as well as numerous volumes of poetry and music.

Science, and Religion. Material vs. Spiritual, Concrete vs. Abstract, Tangible vs. Ethereal. Seemingly opposite concepts, with very real implications for life and reality, often considered incompatible on various points, a conflict that has seemingly gone on forever. Rarely is there true mediation, a sincere attempt to present both aspects in a fair, logical light, providing validity and respect to both. This is such an attempt. Many wholeheartedly believe in the tenets of science; many also wholeheartedly believe in God, a supreme being, an intelligent, creative life-force, a Universal Consciousness. And, some of us wholeheartedly believe that these two are NOT mutually exclusive, nor that there needs to be such a conflict, such a wide chasm between the two, and if they would just get together, if BOTH sides could LISTEN open-mindedly to each other, they could come to understand and respect each other, and find common ground. Because there is much common ground to be found.
