Do you want to lead like a business professional-or a Neanderthal? This book breaks our millennia-old leadership mold to provide the skills for real, lasting success in today's business worldFor too long, humans have been following others based largely on that person's sense of physical strength, appearance and dominance. It's a model that dates back to the Neanderthals and which, incredibly, we continue to apply-consciously or not. The Evolved Leader establishes a new standard for leadership. It shifts you away from a leadership profile of power, command, and control to move your toward the nuance of motivation, inspiration, and, most critically, the shedding of 'ego.' The author bases his perspective and methods on close studies and personal interviews of many of today's most successful leaders.

This laboratory manual presents a curriculum that is organized around an atoms first approach to general chemistry. Our motivation for writing this manual is to (1) tap into the natural curiosity present in all of us and provide engaging experiments that students will find interesting, (2) emphasize topics that students find particularly challenging in the general chemistry lecture course, and (3) create a laboratory environment that encourages students, on occasion, to "solve puzzles" and not just "follow recipes." All too often, students view general chemistry lab as a boring exercise in which an exact set of instructions is followed, leading to an answer that, in many cases, results in a good grade regardless of how much learning has taken place. To these students, the successful lab is the one that takes the least amount of time! Unfortunately, a huge opportunity to get students truly turned on to science is missed. To us, the laboratory represents high-stakes ground for engagement and relatively low stakes for grading, as the laboratory is typically a single-credit course or minor component to the lecture grade. Thus, while the rigor of the experiments in this manual can be tuned to meet the needs of the instructor, our hope is that students will be encouraged to "play" (safely) with chemical concepts and laboratory techniques, with grades simply being a natural consequence of their laboratory actions. To facilitate such a mindset, this manual has been written to provide instructors with a weekly tool that can attract and keep student interest, while providing important connections to the material covered in an atoms first lecture course. Our philosophy: student curiosity leads to engagement, which leads to discovery, which leads to learning. The manual is for a freshman-level general chemistry laboratory course, and serves as an ideal supplement for any atoms first general chemistry textbook (such as Chemistry: Atoms First by Julia Burdge and Jason Overby). It is designed for students at all levels, from those seeing chemistry for the first time to chemistry majors.

Introducing the book that bridges the gap between a dermatologic surgery textbook and a dedicated flap and reconstructive guideDermatologic Surgery is a unique resource that offers the benefits of both a single-volume multi-author global dermatologic surgery textbook and a dedicated flap and reconstructive reference. Conveniently organized by flap type as well as regional approach, it offers by far the most comprehensive flap and reconstruction sections of any general dermatologic surgery book. The book's content breakdown attempts to reflect the proportion of time, effort, and training required for a given subject. For example, there are five full chapters (in addition to numerous other sections) dedicated to Mohs surgery. Similarly, a total of 17 richly illustrated chapters, including those devoted to particular flap techniques and regional approaches to reconstruction, address flap and graft closures. Since anatomy is the foundation on which all surgery is built, the anatomy chapter was built on a true ground-up cadaveric study of head and neck anatomy with an eye to clinical relevance. Full-length high-quality videos are an essential adjunct to learning procedural techniques, and this text includes the largest video resource of its kind ever compiled. This coupled with almost 3,000 high-quality clinical photographs and nearly 500 professional medical illustrations, including infographics with surgical pearls for each chapter - many bolstered by beginner tips, expert tips, cautions, patient education points, and even billing tips - make this a true primer for real-world skin surgery practice.
