This book is the result of student Leticia Mirielle Gonçalves de França Costa's Final Course Work in Social Work (PUCPR), supervised by Professor Dr Solange Fernandes, and is the fruit of joint reflections and shared concerns about the condition of animals in our society. Based on the understanding that the phenomenon of exploitation and domination of non-human animals does not happen in isolation, but is directly related to the major structures that shape society and generate inequalities and oppression, namely: patriarchy, racism, capitalism and speciesism, we sought in this work, through a bibliographical study, to analyse the human-animal relationship from a critical perspective, involving the ethical, environmental, political and economic issues present in this relationship. Finally, we set out to understand how the animal issue relates to the Ethical-Political Project of Social Work, bringing arguments in defence of including the debate around the animal cause in professional struggles for a free, fair and equal society.

In ancient times, the horse was used to transport people, tools, weapons, and in some cases, even as a shield against Indian arrows. Nowadays there are several functions for the horse such as sport horses used for racing, rodeo, jumping, polo, riding, work, shooting, among others. In the events that use sport horses, they usually use the teeth as an indicator to calculate their ages. The age of the horse is also relevant in the purchase and sale of horses, however, most buyers or sellers do not know how to calculate their age. The objective of this project was to elaborate a manual for estimating the age of equines through their teeth. This manual aims to facilitate the determination of the age of horses with the sole purpose of serving as a tool for sporting events, producers, technicians and the general public.

This book, entitled "Learning in innovation policies: the case of the Porter report and cluster policy in Portugal", focuses on the dynamics and evolution of innovation policies in the Portuguese context, with particular emphasis on the proposals put forward by Michael Porter's report.Using a methodology that combines in-depth interviews with experts and analysis of secondary documentation, this study seeks to uncover the mechanisms underlying the different "filters" in the process of learning public policies. These filters, it turns out, have played a crucial role in shaping and influencing public policies associated with clusters in Portugal. The work is also dedicated to tracing a detailed timeline, allowing us to understand the evolution and adaptation of cluster policy from its conception, inspired by the ideas of the Porter report, to its most recent manifestations and implementations on the national scene. The results obtained in this research are revealing, highlighting not only the trajectory and metamorphosis of innovation policies in Portugal, but also the role of the Porter report and the idea of "clusters".

To think and propose that a machine can replace the work of a teacher is an insult to life itself, the most fundamental purpose of education is to humanize, under no circumstances can a machine do that, to achieve the human "common-union".But the new tools demand the mastery of these, otherwise we will be condemning ourselves to eternal underdevelopment, we must do it with responsibility, ethics and humanism, otherwise we will create dystopias, this, therefore, is not a call to technique and conscience, it is a revolutionary cry to action, we must be the teachers that the world needs, we must continue to be the transformers of reality, we are the fundamental axis of a better future, so, as I always say: Innovate or die!

It all started at home playing, that is, in those first moments when for pleasure and almost by necessity a child enjoys playing, in this case imagining to be a teacher, children his age played other things, so their games were almost always alone; playing at being a teacher was not very striking for other children his age. He felt and believed himself to be a teacher. From an early age he would turn the rooms in his house into makeshift classrooms and the doors into writing boards to write on. He usually took the chalk from school and hid it in his suitcase to take it home so he could write down (as a self-respecting teacher) all the topics and explanations that his imaginary students had to know and memorize. Admittedly, he assumed the role of a rather traditional teacher, not very flexible, orthodox and very demanding.

Three essays to get in touch with the most innovative literature of the Southern Cone. Four of the most interesting authors from Chile, Argentina and Uruguay are analyzed in their highly explosive and brilliant aesthetics. In this text we review the pulsional origins of the act of narrating in Juan José Saer and the materialization of this speculative impulse in one of his detective novels; the neo-baroque as the symbolic realm of the mutilated body in Copi, a writer who imitates the baroque retruecano in the faralados of the freak costume; and the instrumentalization of female corporeality in two novels by Felisberto Hernández and Jorge Baradit, the former a Uruguayan artist with a unique style and the latter a representative of Chilean freak power. The three texts included focus on contemporary and avant-garde aesthetic themes as diverse as the Nouveau Roman, the Baroque and its aspects, as well as Latin American fantasy and science fiction.

Our study explores the quality of life (QoL) of patients with gonarthrosis, a global public health issue. Based on a quantitative approach and using the AMIQUAL scale, it involved 82 patients from the rheumatology department at the CHU Hédi Chaker in Sfax. The results show an average age of 60 years, an urban majority (72%), and a duration of evolution of [1-10[years for most (60.9%). The dimensions most affected were physical activities (61% with severe impairment), pain (73.2% with severe impairment), and social activities (54.9% with severe impairment). Factors influencing HRQOL included gender, age, geographic origin, BMI, duration of progression, site and type of gonarthrosis, knee deformity, and stage according to the Kellgren and Lawrence classification. The discussion highlights the significant impact of gonarthrosis on QOL, and proposes recommendations such as raising nurses' awareness and regularly informing patients about the importance of physical activity to improve QOL and prevent muscle atrophy.

The historical, political and institutional importance that Peronism has had in Mendoza from the moment of its appearance in our province is unquestionable. Peronism as a political force, together with the Radical Civic Union and the Democratic Party, are the three party groupings which, in times of functioning and respect for the constitutional order, have dominated the provincial scene in the last 60 years. There are works by various authors on Radicalism and the Democratic Party, including their origins and subsequent development. However, this is not the case with Peronism. In our opinion, this debt of historical knowledge justifies the present study.

A pine forest plantation of the Pinus caribaea species was studied. The composition and structure of the forest plant formation present in the La Sabina management area, belonging to the Lomas de Banao Ecological Reserve, was determined using the standardized floristic method of sampling by census itinerary with transect bands. The physiognomic analysis of this plant formation was also carried out, using 30 species characteristic of the study area. It was found that in this anthracite plant formation the diversity is high, represented by 87 individuals of 52 species, 41 genera and 28 botanical families. The most diverse families were Bromeliaceae, Polypodiaceae, Mimosaceae, Orchidaceae and Fabaceae. The predominant tree species were Pinus caribaea, Guazuma ulmifolia, Roystonia regia and Bursera simaruba. This forest has high diversity values that demonstrate that it is a mature and structurally complex forest formation, with several vegetation strata.

This book, "the dream of my youth", is in two parts, a general summary and a conclusion. A bibliography of some 570 references relating to the Acacia tortilis taxon in Tunisia and worldwide, and to the Gommier forest-steppe and its floristic procession at Bled Talah, completes the book. The first part deals with the taxonomic denomination and systematic classification of the species Acacia tortilis ssp. raddiana, the only forest species in the Acacia tortilis forest-steppe in Tunisia. We discussed its biological (phenology, germination, growth and development), symbiotic and biochemical processes, as well as its ecological behavior and use. We also discussed its phenotypic and genetic diversity, its biogeographical origin and its worldwide geographical distribution, with particular emphasis on its distribution in Africa and Tunisia. Finally, we examine the differences between the authors who have studied this species. In the second part, we characterized the ecological conditions of the Bled Talah region, the only current site of the Gommier forest-steppe in Tunisia.

This book is conceived as a contribution to the presentation of a general panorama and a balance of the archaeological research carried out in the middle valley of the Cauca River, after several years of work and constant contributions to the pre-Hispanic knowledge of the area. However, its purpose is not to resolve current theoretical, conceptual and methodological debates, but rather to point out, through a judicious review of the results of the research efforts carried out up to the time of this publication, the advances and challenges for archaeological work in this cultural zone, with emphasis on those related to the Hoya del Quindío. Ultimately, it aims to become a reference framework text for future studies on pre-Hispanic Quindío.

One of the main problems of modern clinical audiology is sensorineural hearing loss - a hearing pathology associated with damage to the sound-receiving apparatus, when for one reason or another the process of transformation of mechanical vibrations into energy of nerve impulses and its further transportation from the auditory receptors to the corresponding centers of the cerebral cortex is disturbed. As evidenced by numerous publications in the world and domestic literature, sensorineural hearing loss is quite common and occupies a rather large share among diseases of ENT organs.

Can the aspiration of an integrated Caribbean community be achieved without acting on the cognitive systems that regulate, guide, shape that society? The answer is no, it cannot be achieved without acting on it. It has to be done. It is a long-term effort but it is very necessary. The experience of the Association of Caribbean States taught me that there are limitations to what can be done at the governmental or intergovernmental level, because a lot depends on the financial side and donor agencies prefer to finance economic projects; they don't like to finance cultural or social exchange. From a theoretical point of view, he is absolutely right, you have to act on cognitive systems". Norman Girvan.
