In the midst of a centuries long war, tensions between centuries-old Acadian factions had finally erupted into battle in the city markets, threatening the survival of communities still re-emerging from the brink of existence. With nowhere else to go, atop some of the last remaining settlements in the last known continent, many still seek peace on the land. Several armies and city-states have other ideas, however, such as retaking the space in the name of race, religion, and country. Commander Talius Baltiar is one of the major leaders in this movement, but there are others as well, and it is difficult to determine which of the factions are truly attempting to reunite a country and which are attempting to conquer and colonize the ancient city.

If Dante had left a journal, what would it say about how he came to write his masterpiece, The Divine Comedy? What if he actually took a journey into a Hell-on-Earth and then continued upwards towards the stars? If his great love, Beatrice, had not died young after all, could he find her? If so, was there still time for them? Beginning with an aggrieved father's request to repair his daughter's reputation-which meant it was time to write again- at the pace of a theme park ride the reader and Dante set out across the horizon of history from pagan times up through the early 1300s on an Easter Weekend pilgrimage in 1302. Seeking the woman he loves, the poet first meets a cast of characters with immutable assignments in the city of Dis. Surviving this frightening place, with his friend, da Forli, he continues his quest, buoyed by tales of a nunnery where a beautiful woman now lives. Sightings of a woman who might be his Beatrice are described not by whispery souls but by sinners seeking to accomplish a heavenly repose. The poet sees their dream and their redemptive strivings as being like his own. Whether in references to the old and new testaments as taught by the Catholic Church or in reprises of Roman history or in recollections of Medieval Italy, embroiled in the factional enmity of families and political parties, always in the background is a human love story. Let the reader participate in this imagination and join Dante in Chasing Beatrice.

At twenty-three I gave up my well-paid medical profession in England and moved to Crete to teach English for a year. Why? Because I thought there had to be more to life. I felt I was escaping, in fact I was learning, learning what was missing in my life... our lives. I went back to radiography, saved and headed to Australia. Bought a Kombi van and travelled from Perth up the wild and unique coastline and around to Sydney. Eventually settling on the beautiful Central Coast of Australia. It was the connection with nature that was missing. I had a family, studied herbal medicine and Ayurveda and finally, thankfully, I started practicing yoga. Slowly over the years, my mind became quieter and another connection began to grow, a connection to my true home, my body and heart. Create a better life for yourself and those around you. Follow your heart. Start small but dream big! You have the rest of your life after all. Keep on learning and enriching your life.

I am that I am is an affirmation that teachers and caregivers can share with children of all ages. The idea behind this statement is that it is perfectly fine to feel and be exactly as you are in a moment on any given day. This book is comprised of affirmations for kids with each one having a connection to a part of nature. Children can relate to the narratives that are associated with each affirmation, as well as nature's essence. A young, school age character refers to occurrences throughout a typical day in which she chooses to learn, reflect upon, and make changes to how she reacts to situations. Children who listen to and/or read this text will connect to the character, who uses nuances that a school aged person can relate to from his/her own experiences.

The "I" in this fable is an orangutan. As far as he knows, he's always lived in the zoo where he believes he is employed as a functionary to educate people about nature. Although he considers his mission futile - visitors average eighteen seconds in contemplating him - he's basically good natured about his lot. There are the regulars and his keeper, whose antics keep him amused. As for the rest of the visitors, he has a way of distinguishing them as either fifteen or four million year people depending on their attitude; that is to say, if they seem to think that our common ancestors parted ways a long time ago, or relatively recently. Occasionally, when it all becomes too much for him, there is 'the Java', a gunny sack which he pulls over his head by way of escape. One day, a visitor leaves behind an open umbrella on the floor outside his cage. The following night, a small bird flies out from the dark blue vault of the umbrella and abducts him from his cage...

'Among the pages in this book, "I" is not always me, "You" is not necessarily you, but "We" often refers to all of us. There is no limit to knowing. Anyone who claims to know it all, is lying. Though, every day lends an opportunity to discover something new-, about yourself or the world; magic is real and it's all around us.' In this thought provoking collection of poems, the author addresses the issues of the modern world, questioning humanity's current pathway and calling for a return to a life more in step with Mother Nature.
