Fifty years ago, America spent a year that changed the world, in what was described as a nation “out of control” during the very divisive Vietnam War, with protest and tragedy on the home front between the generations as the young revolted against their elders and authority.During this tumultuous time in the history of our country, I was trying to learn some “self-awareness,” while living away from home for the first time. My story takes you on an adventurous journey of fun, recreation, and excitement in the Colorado Mountains, where I became a young adult while learning about life on my own. This true story took place in A Summer in ’68, when I spent my three-month college break working as a hotel maid at the Estes Park Chalet in beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park.At age 18, I had the opportunity to enjoy a working vacation, learning about myself with approximately fifty other college students doing the same thing. For those who couldn’t be there, come along as we go back in time to work and play in this Rocky Mountain High resort town.About the Author: Retired from the medical field, Dee Davidson Dosch grew up in a rural setting in southwest Missouri, the only girl with five brothers in a large Catholic family. The author lives in Springfield, Missouri, where she spent most of her life. “I lived away for almost 20 years in Colorado and Washington State before returning to my home town.” She is the mother of three adult children and the grandmother to five. Her first book was what followed, A Summer in ’69.

“Laila was raped, beaten and abused. May the Lord excuse my silence, my timidity, and my delayed protection of her innocence, but let my portrayal of her ordeal serve to lessen the burden of guilt, which I have carried long enough. I was her nanny. I suffered with her – and perhaps more – for unlike this little girl, I knew I could save her and there could be a way to end her ordeal. Why did it take me so long to take her to safety? This remains an obstacle to my peace of mind. It is a reminder that we all sometimes succumb to the devil when it is in our interests to keep silent.” Hasan A. Fitaihi graduated from Boston College with a BS in finance in 1998, graduated from Harvard University with a master’s in public policy (MPP) from the Kennedy School of Government in 2003, and graduated from the University of London in 2008 with an MS in international politics. He worked as an advisor to the Mayor of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, advisor to the Minister of Labor in Saudi Arabia, and advisor to the Minister of Economy and Planning in Saudi Arabia. He currently holds the position of director of the International Medical Center’s Academy (one of the premier hospitals in the Middle East). The author also enjoys chess and martial arts.

Season of Mist salutes the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. This historical novel begins during the French Revolution in the late 1700s on the tiny Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia. After suffering severe deprivation, a band of revolutionaries using guerrilla tactics are able to rout the remnants of Napoleon’s grand army, as well as some of Britain’s best foot soldiers.Against the backdrop of slavery, the revolutionaries – though starving and in rags – take the battle directly to their enemies, moving heaven and earth to repudiate their wretched living conditions.Led by a Black woman named Madlienne Des Voeux — her army, a mixture of Blacks, Mulattoes, and some poor Frenchmen – are all fighting for freedom from slavery against Royalist, British, and French planters.Forty years will pass before Madlienne can finally confront the leader of those who killed her family and escaped so many years ago. Bent on a lifelong quest for vengeance, will she finally get the justice she has waited so long to realize?Born and raised on Saint Lucia, Mac Donald Dixon writes full-time since retiring in 2013 as a trade consultant with the island’s government. “As an amateur historian, I have always wanted to see my history through the eyes of my people, and not the colonizer’s or oppressor’s. Season of Mist is one such offering.” He also wishes to “dispel preconceived notions of history and historical events as told by our colonizers, and try to see them in a new light. Millions were taken from their homes in Africa, India, China, and Ireland, and brought to these islands against their will. Their descendents know their stories and must tell the world the truth.”

  • - From My Inside to My Outside
    av Leanne Bourgeois
    260,-

Intuition to Fruition: From My Inside to My Outside tells the author’s story of surviving suicide. In her own words, author Leanne Bourgeois says:I hope to save lives by providing my personal story. My book is a self-reflection, introspection type of piece, based on my experience with health issues and trauma. I hope to offer the insights I’ve learned, along with my journey to help others struggling with feeling stuck or that there’s no step they can take.At first, I wrote this for me. I put these words together on paper to help me grieve, heal, and chart my experience. Then I got the idea that I could potentially help someone else by revealing my personal story.I talked with a friend about publishing my book, feeling concerned with the response of how personally revealing my story would be. She said, “Please publish this for my brother. He needs your story to help him.” I realized I may be a vessel for others needing help and could possibly save the life of someone facing similar thoughts of suicide.I dealt with many obstacles. These ranged from my own self-esteem, pride, ego, caring what others would think, a concussion, my physical and mental health, a family death, going through divorce, and financial problems. In the end, I felt relieved and proud I created this book.Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, Leanne Bourgeois now lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. She is a graduate of Dalhousie University and has a BA in theatre. A dual citizen, her parents both hail from Canada. Besides writing, she loves to sing and play the piano. This is her first book.

Then again, we have enjoyed more than forty-five years of wedded bliss, so she has obviously found a way to abide my idea of comedy.“For a long time I was under the impression that my wife was giving me compliments. The man who thinks he knows his wife needs a psychiatrist, preferably a woman psychiatrist.”About the Author: Since 1997, Rev. James L. For more than twenty years, I have studied destructive and apocalyptic cult leaders like Jim Jones, David Koresh (Waco), Shoko Asahara (Aum Shinriko), Marshall Applewhite (Heaven’s Gate), Charles Manson (Helter Skelter Murderers), and Luc Jouret and Joseph DiMambro (Suicidal Solar Temple). These cult leaders, the mesmerizing Malignant Pied Pipers of our time, led idealistic, father-hungry, or disillusioned young people away from their homes and toward destruction.Having an understanding of cult mentality and the pathological personalities of cult leaders is essential, for there are striking similarities between these deadly leaders and the newest examples, Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda cult of ultimate terror. The death toll from Jonestown, the Branch Davidian disaster at Waco, and Al Qaeda/ISIS terror cults of the last 30 years is horrendous. My previous book, A Boyish God, is a troubling novel with deep insights. I was jolted to my core when I learned that a college friend’s son died at the Rev. Jim Jones’s side at Jonestown. Over 30 years later, I am still searching for answers, especially about terror prevention.About the Author: Psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Peter Olsson, M.D., trained at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. This sequel to Long Trip Home is written for young teenagers and all those who enjoy historic adventure novels. Two Hawaiian brothers, Akoni and Micah, modify an ocean-going kayak so they can standup paddleboard it from Maui to Molokai to visit their grandmother, an indigenous Hawaiian woman. She tells them that their grandfather and great-grandfathers way back to the time of King Kamehameha the 5th in 1766, were all Kahunas, men who were trained by a master Kahuna to become experts in whatever their field of training or profession.Akoni develops a strong sense of heritage after hearing this and wants to become a Kahuna himself to help others. He connects with a master Kahuna who teaches him how to find plants and herbs as the sources of medicines, trains in their use, and also adopts Kahuna practices such as the hula and chants. He continues his standup paddle board adventures, racing with Micah and his new friend, Pamela. Will Akoni’s Kahuna apprenticeship in his early teens conflict with his father’s expectations that he will attend college after high school? Are both options open to Akoni?Robert Temple Frost lives in Boulder, Colorado.
