In the Hebrew of the Old Testament the word tamid is used as an adverb, which modifies a verbal motion, to point out that the action goes on regularly, consistently or continually-"daily" at regular, repeated intervals. It is never used of an object or action in the most holy place, where the priest ministered only once a year. Nor is it ever used of pagan worship or the use of idols. It is used almost thirty times in connection with the tabernacle in the wilderness and the temple of Jerusalem-always referring to some action the priest carried out in its courtyard or in the holy place. The question, then, is what single word or phrase can encompass all of these regular priestly activities in both areas? The "daily," which was followed once a year by the "yearly" or "annual" ministration in the Most Holy Place. Since these earthly functions were a typological model of what takes place in the heavenly sanctuary, its connection there shows that it belongs to the heavenly mediation and intercession of Christ on behalf of his earthly children. -William H. Shea, M.D., Ph.D. Retired Professor: Old Testament Department Seminary, Andrews University Retired Associate: Biblical Research Institute, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

Our time is short on this Earth. Jesus will soon be returning to take home His children...but are we ready? The book you are holding is a story about fighting the good fight of faith and conquering it with Christ's help. God's Word says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). The Bible also says, "The truth shall make you free ... ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:32, 36). The author speaks heart to heart with the reader about the realities of the Christian journey and the reward that is waiting for us. He also speaks about the dangers that surround us, the temptations we often struggle with, and how to overcome sin through Christ. A major question is asked: "Why hasn't Jesus come yet?" This book answers that question. Are you spiritually homesick? God has made a plan to hasten Jesus' Second Coming, but we must do our part in making that a reality. Using the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy, this book provides answers as to why Jesus hasn't come yet and how we can vindicate God and hasten His return. May we all prepare ourselves for the day of the Lord through in-depth study of His Word and books such as Trusting and Believing God.

If you were to ask a room full of CEOs what the most important leadership trait is for an executive officer, most would share such attributes as authoritative, decisive, knowledgeable, dedicated, tough, tactical, and dominant. It is doubtful that any would say humility. The challenge for many churches today is that church officers and leaders are trained to think in terms of secular leadership practices, which are often void of servility. "The Unconventionality of Church Leadership: It Works" examines current business leadership principles and compares them with the exemplary leadership practices that Jesus displayed while here on earth. By implementing a shepherd-servant leadership model in our churches and executing a strategic plan that engages and utilizes the talents of all members, Earlington Guiste seeks to inspire church members and leaders to carry out the great commission and fulfill the organismic nature of God's church.
