Grace for Eliza is the true story of one mother's journey of faith as her two-year-old daughter's life hangs in the balance after being exposed to E. coli. The country was rocked by a tainted spinach outbreak in 2006, but Shannon wrestled with the unknown source of her daughter's illness. Battling her own fears and guilt, she was pushed to the brink spiritually, mentally, and physically. After three months of dialysis and the continued decline of Eliza's kidneys, a transplant seemed the obvious option. In spite of the dire circumstances, the Lord encouraged Shannon to keep coming to Him on Eliza's behalf. This is a story of how the Lord taught a family and community to live in God's promises during the darkest hours. To trust Jesus above the clamor of their own hearts and the reality of this fallen world. He showed Himself to be Emmanuel-worthy of all praise, glory, and honor!

1 Samuel 16:10, "Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, ''The Lord has not chosen these.''" Society may never pick you, but thank God when it comes to leaders, God has the final say so! The attraction to popularity and influence can cloud our judgement sometimes and we forget that God does the calling, and we do the answering. Do you remember playing basketball or football at recess and the anticipation of being picked begins to rise when there are fewer people left to pick from? One of the greatest fears is being picked last, or not being picked at all because no one likes to be overlooked. This book is to encourage the leader that feels overlooked, abandoned, and forgotten to remember that God chose you when society did not.

I would like through my writings to take you on a journey. Come away with me to a quiet place. A place long forgotten about. A place deep in the recesses of your soul. God''s Spirit resides there. Come away from the noise of many voices. My aim is for us reflect on God''s word. To let it marinate within us. I have found through life experiences God has much to say to us some of which I''ve written in this book that I would like to share. Take this Journey with me as we travel together. We''ll laugh, we''ll cry, sometimes we''ll just pause and reflect. Psalms 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."

  • - 28: Perfect Timing
    av Iris Campbell Williams

How can a broken clock be right more than twice a day? Watch the hands move. Is a broken clock right only twice a day? Well, that depends on location. Since we have different time zones, a clock could be right twenty-four times each day! And like a clock, God uses hands to show His time and demonstrate that it is impeccable. Fortunately, we have the Holy Bible to guide us through all seasons. God is always speaking; we need to listen. This book was designed to link our continuous traditional timing system with a specific Word from God in an effort to help the reader distinguish God''s perfect timing daily. Watch His hands. It''s showtime!

  • - Turning from Darkness to Light through Christ Jesus
    av Anne C Maxwell
    301

TURN THE PAGE SHOWS THAT THE ANSWER TO EVERY QUESTION AND STRUGGLE IN LIFE COMES FROM THE LIVING WORD OF GOD. THROUGH HIS WORD, WE CAN BE DELIVERED FROM DEPRESSION, ADDICTION, OR ANYTHING ELSE CAUSING STRIFE IN OUR LIVES AND FIND TRUE JOY, SERENITY, AND CONTENTMENT. The daily messages in this book reflect the struggles of my personal journey and finding the way out of darkness. We live in a fallen, upside down world, and only when we rely on God''s Word can we turn away from darkness and into the light. My own need to control life caused nothing but turmoil, trials, and tribulations, and left me floundering out of control. I finally understand there is a much easier path in relying on His strength and abiding in His word, which leads to a life filled with peace and happiness beyond comprehension. My prayer for the readers of this book is they find inspiration to live a sanctified life, surrender control to Our Heavenly Father, and receive all His Blessings. God hovers over all of us waiting--all we have to do is invite Him in!

There is nothing in this world sweeter or more refreshing than forgiveness. If your goal seems just out of reach, think of this selfless man. When crippling pain stands in the way of your victory, think of this man's determination. His courage defeated fear, indignity, and injustice. None of which were big enough obstacles to prevent Jesus from achieving His greater purpose.

God calls people to be in His service. In 1592, one of my great-grandfathers was ordained a priest of the Church of England and later became the pastor of the Pilgrims in Holland. In 1773, another Great-grandfather was instrumental in building Sappony Baptist Church. I was ordained there in 1979. God is an awesome God who wants a relationship with you through His Son Jesus. Our lives may not be perfect, but God directs our path if we follow His directions in His Word, the Bible, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I am thankful that the God of the universe cares enough for me to know me by name and knows where I am in a little village in Virginia, USA, not big enough to be on the map. I was born in an old house with no electricity. They put my baby bottles down the well to cool and to keep them from spoiling. My mother was sick, and I did not bond with her as my mother. I was hospitalized at the age of three months with pneumonia. I was a timid, neurotic, young first grader. I suffered from separation anxiety being away from home and family. I started having migraine headaches in the fourth grade. I had a lung collapse that bled internally until I went into blood pressure shock at age nineteen. I contracted Hepatitis C from the blood transfusions. I became depressed and attempted suicide. Years later, I was stabbed above the heart, collapsing my lung and coming within a fraction of entering the heart cavity. Through the CAT scan from the stabbing, they found I had an aortic aneurysm. My oxygen level would not stabilize until they found a hole in my heart. Six months later, my lungs began filling with fluid caused by the stabbing, and I stopped breathing during a procedure. God has been with me every step of the way. He has truly blessed life.
